| New media film review video is arguably one of the most influential and widely-accessed forms of literary criticism today.It has become not only an important component of contemporary film and television comment,but also an important part of popular culture and literary criticism.In recent years,in addition to the entertaining and fast-food film reviews,a number of more serious,attitudinal and solidly film reviews are emerging on Bilibili.The emergence of this kind of film review videos shows the trend of new media film review and the change of the aesthetic demand of the public culture,which deserves our attention and consideration.This paper examines the cultural background,development history,transformation trend and existing problems of the headline self-published film review videos,and analyses the critical practice of headline self-published film review videos on Bilibili.The first part of this paper is an introduction,which outlines the background of the existence of self-published film review videos.It also compares the current situation of research.In the era of highly popular new media,the production and viewing of self-review videos has become a major trend.Among the various self-publishing video platforms,Bilibili is the earliest and relatively mature in terms of the development of self-publishing film reviews.The second part focuses on the growth context of self-review videos,and explores the overall characteristics formed by it.The "image age" of new media has awakened the instinctive preference of human beings for images.Film reviews emerge while messages are becoming visualized.With the new media wave,the traditional central discourse has fallen away,while the image age and new media technology have given rise to a new form of film review,with the public becoming the main voice.At the same time,consumer culture has turned all cultural life on new media platforms into cultural consumption,and the creation and viewing of film review videos on Bilibili has become a business.The function of the headline self-published film reviews became entertaining while their purpose became commercialized.The third part examines the critical practices of the top self-published film critics on Bilibili over time,tracing the position of self-published film critics in the history of Chinese film criticism.We can see how the grassroots film critics have grown up to seize the right to commentary with the rise of the common people’s consciousness,developing in the midst of savage growth.This chapter summarizes and organizes the critical practices of Bilibili head film critics since their development to date,summarizing the video genres into four types:quick-fire works,bad film trolling,film and TV round-ups and masterpiece interpretation.The fourth part explores the trends in the development of self-published film review videos on Bilibili,and explores the reasons behind the transformation.In terms of critical themes,self-published film reviews are "breaking down" : from a highly subversive and destructive discourse of parody and deconstruction,to a new style of aesthetically positive film reviews.In terms of content,the review has moved from narrative to discussion,and has gradually become more critical and deliberative in addition to the narrative.Behind the development and iteration of the top film review media is the transformation and upgrading of the cultural climate and audience needs.The fifth part discusses the unfinished nature of the transformation of self media film review videos at the top of Bilibili,and provides insights into the current existing problems,including a lack of independence,depth of comments,and serious homogenization of production.These problems are found in the soil and environment in which self-published film review videos grow,separating them from truly independent and discerning literary criticism.It is a foggy barrier that must be broken through if they are to move forward.Finally,based on the above discussion,I believe that that popular culture does not necessarily mean vulgarity,and popular literary review does not necessarily equate with inferior quality.The key to whether the new form of mass film review in the new media era can ultimately transform into transformation lies in whether its transformation can break through the stereotypes of commercialization and entertainment,and achieve a balance.Only when the strength of its transformation breaks through existing problems in one go,can self media film review videos not only be short-lived blooms above the trend. |
