A Report On Cohesion And Coherence In Simultaneous Interpreting Of Liangzhu Culture Based On The Interpretive Triangle Model

Economic globalization has become the new banner of the twenty-first century,and society is calling for a new world pattern of openness,tolerance,and mutual assistance.The promotion of globalization requires mutual understanding and tolerance between countries.Today,with the rapid development of the Internet,cultures are spreading rapidly,and people from different countries can learn more about each other’s culture,folklore,and history.As a bridge of communication,interpretation plays a vital role in the spread of culture and communication.Simultaneous interpretation is widely used because of its efficiency in language interpretation.This report is based on the practice of simulated simultaneous interpretation from Chinese to English in the documentary Liangzhu Culture by Zhejiang TV.The documentary is a humanities documentary produced by the Propaganda Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee and produced by Zhejiang TV of Zhejiang Radio and Television Group.The documentary will focus on the formation,development,and significance of the ancient Liangzhu civilization in the Taihu Lake basin.The documentary contains many names of cultural relics and cultural terms,which require a high level of interpretation skills and knowledge.In this report,the interpreter uses the triangular model of interpretation theory to find solutions to the difficulties of cohesion and coherence in interpretation into English.By analyzing the results of this documentary,the interpreter has successfully resolved the difficulties that appeared in cohesion and coherence arising from cultural and linguistic differences in the case by using additions,subtractions,regrouping,and substitutions.By writing this simulated interpretation paper,the interpreter has further integrated the triangle model theory into practice,strengthening his interpreting ability and providing him with a guiding direction.It is hoped to serve as a learning reference for other interpreters.
