| In today’s digital information era,big data is increasingly applied in all walks of life,especially in agriculture,which is the basic industry of national economy.In China,the model of “big data +agriculture” attracts great social concern and gets government’s support.Big Data’s Big Potential in Developing Economies: Impact on Agriculture,Health and Environmental Security reviews the shortcomings and potential of developing countries concerning the development of big data.Chapter5(Big Data in Agriculture)analyzes the trend of the combination of agriculture and big data,and introduces the innovations and challenges of big data application in agriculture,which is of reference significance to the development of digital agriculture in our country.Thus,this chapter is chosen as the source text of this translation practice on which the report is based.This translation report consists of four sections: task description,translation process,case analysis and summary.The translator explains difficulties encountered in the process of translation,such as the proper nouns without official translations and words in specific context as well as noun structures,passive voice and attributive clauses.The translator also conducts a detailed analysis of certain examples from the perspective of lexicon,syntax and discourse under the guidance of the theory of “three transformations”.Besides,techniques including addition,deletion,transformation,combination and division are adopted to translate the source language into the target language naturally and appropriately so as to provide readers with a smooth reading experience without affecting the objectivity and vividness of the source text.This translation practice has benefited the translator a lot and is expected to help agricultural practitioners gain more information about big data and provide a reference for agricultural researchers to optimize the development strategy of big data in agriculture in China. |
