Nowadays,technological progress is rapidly changing,new media are rapidly becoming popular,the way people live,study and work is constantly changing,the environment in which children and youth grow up is profoundly changing,and new challenges are faced in talent training.The compulsory education curriculum has also been revised and improved with the times.In April 2022,the Ministry of Education of the People’s Republic of China formulated the 2022 version of the compulsory education curriculum program,which is of great significance in promoting the high-quality development of compulsory education and the comprehensive construction of a strong socialist modern country.The author selects three of these Curriculum Standards documents for practice,namely the Compulsory Education English Curriculum Standards(2022),the Compulsory Education History Curriculum Standards(2022),and the Compulsory Education Science Curriculum Standards(2022).After analyzing the characteristics of the text,the author chooses German purpose theory as the guiding theory for this translation practice.This theory emphasizes that the act of translation should be done selectively on the basis of fidelity to the source text,taking into account the purpose of translation and the characteristics of the text’s recipient.And these people are with English reading skills,sufficient educational background,and a strong interest in Chinese education policy.Guided by the three principles of Skopos rule,Coherence rule and Fidelity rule proposed by Hans Vermeer,the author selects representative passages,sentences and words for analysis.After giving priority to the characteristics and translation purposes of the documents,the practice report shows the Chinese characteristics and the characteristics of the documents themselves as far as possible in the translation process,and ensures the fidelity and linguistic coherence of the translation by using such translation methods as augmentation,direct translation,addition of notes,omission,merger,and translation with the aim of making the translation better convey the information of the source text.Through this translation practice,the author found that,despite the large differences between Chinese and English,translators can still improve translation efficiency and translation quality by flexibly using translation methods,and build a bridge between the author of the source text and the target readers of the translated text.The theory of purposive translation also makes the translator’s translation purpose clearer and helps the translator to convey the important information in the source text.
