The integration of north and south landscape art has emerged in the development history of Chinese landscape painting as a means of promoting painters to explore the formation of personal artistic styles.During this period,Dong Qichang’s proposal of the "Northern and Southern Zong Theory" artistic viewpoint not only clarified the division of Chinese landscape painting into different genres, but also laid the foundation for the development of a painting lineage that combines the North and South in Chinese landscape painting. With the continuous inheritance and dissemination of the Southern and Northern sects by painters, they discovered the constraints that the Southern and Northern sects had brought to the development of landscape art. Therefore, painters began to extensively explore the landscape art of various schools in the Southern and Northern sects in their study of landscape painting,in order to break through the obstacles that the Southern and Northern sects’ art theory had brought to the exploration of painters’ personal artistic style. This led to a large number of landscape painters starting to dialectically view the Southern and Northern sects The advantages and disadvantages of the artistic style of the Northern Second Sect are selectively blended according to their own pursuit of artistic style. The painter who achieved the most harmonious integration of north-south landscape art was Wang Hui in the early Qing Dynasty. With the integration of northsouth landscape art,he became a different painter from the common people at that time, and he influenced a group of landscape painters. With the continuous growth of his artistic followers, painter Wang Hui founded the Yushan School of Painting, which invisibly enriched the appearance of Chinese landscape art and the expression forms of art schools. At the same time,it also played a positive role in the development of Chinese landscape painting, but the stagnation of his later artistic style development was also related to it.This article takes landscape painter Wang Hui as the research object, combines the author’s own creative practice, analyzes the reasons for the formation of Wang Hui’s artistic style, summarizes the integration and application of his northern and southern sectarian artistic styles, and evaluates the artistic value of Wang Shigu’s painting and its impact on the development of future landscape paintings.
