This paper takes the verbs in the nine fairy tales of Kenji Miyazawa and Mimei Ogawa respectively as the research object,based on the classification criteria of the syntactic functions of verbs by Jyuukou Suzuki(1972),the method of combining quantitative and qualitative and comparative analysis is used to compare and analyze the syntactic functions of verbs in the two groups of works.The conclusions of this paper are as follows.1.Verbs in both works group are primarily used as predicates,and then as adverbial modifiers and attributes.Kenji prefers to use verbs as adverbial modifiers,while Mimei prefers to use verbs as attributes.2.Judging from the similar richness of verbs in both works groups,the verbs in the Kenji’s works group as attributes are richer,while the verbs used as adverbial modifiers in the Mimei’s works group are more abundant.Also,the verbs in the Kenji’s works group are constantly used as predicates.3.The consistency of the use of verbs as attributes in the Kenji works group is relatively stable,while the use of verbs as adverbial modifiers in the Mimei’s works group is relatively consistent.4.Both works groups belong to the polite style.Comparing the two works groups,it is found that the articles of the Mimei’s works group are more polite on the whole.5.In both works groups,the narrative sentences,combined with dialogue and thinking sentence,are the basic expressions to carry forward the story line.The Kenji works groups use dialogue more;and the Mimei’s works groups pay more attention to thinking sentence.6.In terms of the mood expressed by verbs,both works groups mainly adopt declarative sentences,supplemented by persuasive sentences and imperative sentences.Kenji’s works groups highlight and emphasize the subjective will of the individual.7.The "V テ adverbs" of the Kenji’s works groups focus on the state of the subject when the action is carried out,the posture and the psychology of the subject,while the "V テ adverbs" of the Mimei’s works groups tend to show the state of the subject while taking an action.8.The naming and writing styles of the two groups differ markedly,with nouns in the titles of Mimei’s works appearing in each essay and embellished by verbs to impress the reader.9."The nouns embellished by verbs in the Kenji’s works groups are mainly natural objects and natural phenomena or other objects alive.While Mimei’s works groups prefer to depict environment,objective objects,heaven and earth and other lifeless objects. |
