A Comparative Study Of Agony Theme On The Works By Miyazawa Kenji And Lin Haiyin

All kinds of human emotions have always been the source of endless literary creation.Happiness can be some writers' favorite theme,sorrow can be some writers' favorite theme.Among all the literary themes,agony theme is remarkable.Miyazawa Kenji and Lin Haiyin are both famous for their fairy tales and children literature in Chinese and Japanese literary circles.There is one similarity of these two writers who are related to children's literature creation: there are many painful elements in their works.These two writers' agony descriptions are different from and other writers.In addition,due to the differences between Chinese and Japanese cultures and these two writers' family environments,their agony descriptions have their own characteristics.This paper chooses "agony" perspective and parallel research methods in comparative literature to make a comparative study of these two writers' works.The introduction chapter firstly states the previous studies of Miyazawa Kenji and Lin Haiyin.Secondly,the topic value and research significance of this thesis are explained in detail.There are three chapters of this thesis' s body part.The first chapter analyses the causes of the Miyazawa Kenji and Lin Haiyin's agony consciousness.The second chapter mainly analyses the descriptions of agony in these two writers' works.Firstly,agony ways and agony characters in the representative works of Miyazawa and Lin Haiyin are compared and analyzed.The contrast of similarities and differences between Miyazawa and Lin Haiyin's descriptions is also analyzed in this part.Secondly,this chapter analyzes and compares the hidden things behind these agony descriptions of the two writers.The third chapter studies the curative effect contained in Lin Haiyin's and Miyazawa's works.The protagonists in Lin Haiyin's works will never be passive even they face the difficulties of life,they overcome the negative effect of agony and seek for a favourable turn in life.In the Miyazawa's works,though the protagonists suffer a lot,the desire and pursuit of happiness still can be their most precious dream.Miyazawa Kenji and Lin Haiyin put their agony experiences they have experienced from their growing processes into their works.But they never givereaders senses of despair,their works are filled with the desire for happiness and resistance to adversity.This kind of agony descriptions is a kind of positive agony description.The general contents and opinions of this paper are systematically summarized in the conclusion chapter.
