Zhang Shi’s thought of neutralization can be divided into three periods: the early period before five years of Qiandao, the middle period from five years of Qiandao to eight years of Qiandao, and the late period after eight years of Qiandao. The orientation of Zhang Shi’s early neutralization thought needs to straighten out the origin of Cheng Yi,Yang Shi and Hu Hong’s neutralization thought.Cheng Yi’s theory of neutralization can be divided into early and late stages.Yang Shi inherited Cheng Yi’s later neutralization thought, and his thought extended to Luo Congyan Li Dong Zhu Xi,while Hu Hong mostly inherited Cheng Yi’s early neutralization thought, which is different from Cheng Yi and Yang Shi in the later stage.Zhang Shi’s early neutralization thought inherited Hu Hong’s Gongfu theory and advocated "observing clues, preserving and expanding";On the relationship between "mind" and "developed but not developed",he had differences with Hu Hong. The reason is that the book of "essence of Er Cheng","collection of works of Er Cheng" and "suicide note of Er Cheng" was published.Zhang Shin was exposed to many views of Cheng Yi on "developed but not developed" and "mind" in his later period. There are differences and consensus between Zhang Shi’s concept of neutralization and Zhu Xi,as well as with the "Hunan Princes".In the theory of mind and nature, both Zhang Shi and Zhu Xi believe that the heart has a time when it has not developed, and that the heart connects between the developed and the not developed, and has the function of dominating temperament, which is their consensus. However, the understanding of mind dominating temperament is different.Zhu Xi emphasizes the perceptual dominant function of mind. His "mind dominating temperament" tends to be conditional and restrictive from the form, and the form of its function is negative;Zhang Shin emphasizes the moral dominating function of the mind. His "mind dominating temperament" tends to be metaphysical initiative and construction, and the form of its role is positive. The consensus between Zhu Gongfu and Zhang Weifa lies in the "consensus".There are two differences.First,Zhang Shin advocated "observation and self-restraint go hand in hand",while Zhu Xi advocated "self-restraint is the leading and observation and knowledge is the subordinate";Secondly, the natural principles embodied in Zhu Xi’s Gongfu theory appear sometimes.Zhang Shi’s Gongfu theory inherits Hu Hong, and the natural principles embodied in it appear from time to time. The princes of Hunan questioned Zhang Shin from the standpoint of Hu Hong’s view of neutralization. On the theory of mind and nature, they advocated the view that "nature is not developed, the heart is developed, and the heart is formed by nature",and on the theory of time, they advocated the view of "observing the clues".Zhang Shi did not deny all their views, but agreed with Hu Hong’s mind nature theory and time theory at the level of development, but had a new understanding of "mind has a time when it is not developed" and "self-restraint when it is not developed" at the level of development. It can be said that at this stage,Zhang Shi not only absorbed Huxiang learning and Zhu Xi learning, but also surpassed them.Zhang Shi’s concept of "Neutralization" in his later period no longer focused on the micro "mind" and "time".After eight years of the reign of emperor Qiandao,Zhang Shi re read the "suicide note of Ercheng" and rediscussed "Neutralization" with Zhu Xi.From this discussion,it can be seen that Zhu Xi and Zhang Shi’s understanding of "Neutralization" in his later period is completely different.Zhu Xi has an obvious boundary between developed and unfulfilled, emphasizing the strict distinction between developed and unfulfilled,Zhang Shi,on the other hand, prefers to grasp the macro situation and advocates the connection between the developed and the undeveloped. In his later works such as Taiji diagram interpretation,Mencius interpretation and Analects of Confucius interpretation,Zhang’s view on "Neutralization" has implemented this position, reflecting the philosophical attitude of "body and use".Zhang Shi’s view of neutralization is unique and has phased characteristics. It is not superficial. He was completely obedient to Hu Hong in the early stage and followed Zhu Xi in the late stage.Among them,he thought absorbed Cheng Yi,Hu Hong and Zhu Xi,and sublimated and surpassed them on the basis of reference and self integration.
