Report On The Translation Practice Of The Japanese Government White Paper Under The Guidance Of Newmark's Communicative Translation Theor

The text of this translation practice report is selected from Section Ⅶ“Technical Specifications” of Tender Documents for Paira Bridge(Lebukhali Bridge)Construction Project.It includes Part-Ⅰ “Design Standard” and Part-Ⅱ “Specification for Construction”,which briefly summarize the overall design of extradosed cable-stayed bridge and mainly describe the specification for construction of segments and cast-in-situ bored piles.In the report,based on the textual contents and features,the translator will work to understand and analyze the difficulties in translation from the aspects of lexis and syntax,and will summarize applicable translation strategies and methods.At lexical level,the method of selection,extension and conversion are used for the translation of technical terms.At syntactic level,techniques of structural addition and semantic addition are adopted for the translation of omitted components in sentences,and methods as synchronizing,inserting,splitting,reversing and recasting are applied for the translation of structurally complex sentences.It is the hope of the translator that the report can serve as a reference for the translation of similar texts in the future.
