It brings great challenges for translators to understand and translate English long sentences with complex structures.It is also difficult to translate English long sentences and complex sentences with correct translation strategy in the process of translation,meanwhile it will be worthy of study and discussion.This report is based on the translation practice of the long sentences in The Economist.As business news,the language of The Economist has distinctive features,containing a number of long sentences.The translator selected twenty long sentences in this report.This report analyzes and summarizes such translation strategies in the process of practice in The Economist,including literal translation,division,conversion and recasting.These translation strategies and skills can deal with difficulties in the process of translation.Correct understanding and appropriate translation strategies are very important in the process of translation when translate long sentences.It is hoped that this report may do some contributions for future translation practice and translation theories.This report consists of five parts.Part one is the introduction of translation work;the second part is translation process;part three is general overview of the translation work,which will study translation strategies based on case study;part four is summary.The translator gains a lot in this process of translation,including theoretical attainment and the ability of practice.
