| As a famous historian and university professor during the Republic of China,Deng Zhicheng had a wide range of interpersonal communication.A large part of his diaries involves interpersonal communication,which is a valuable source for the academic community to study Deng’s communication as well as Deng Zhicheng himself.Starting from Deng Zhicheng’s diaries,based on the diaries,letters,photographs and other historical materials left by Deng Zhicheng,et al,Deng Zhicheng’s interpersonal activities were analyzed and described in depth in terms of the objects of communication,the ways of communication and other contents shown in the communication,and then the characteristics of Deng Zhicheng’s interpersonal activities,Deng’s own temperament and character,as well as the philosophy of Deng’s life of "not being passionate about fame and wealth,without an desire to be an official" were considered and summarized.In this study,Deng Zhicheng’s communication activities were mainly discussed from the following four aspects.First,communication objects.Deng Zhicheng’s important interpersonal network in his life included his colleagues and students during his teaching days at Yanjing University,as well as the booksellers of Glass Street and other bookstores with whom he usually had close dealings in books,and some military and political dignitaries,book collectors,doctors and so on.It could be seen that Deng Zhicheng interacted with a large number of objects,the wide range of activities.Second,the way of communication.Through analyzing Deng Zhicheng’s daily communication activities,it also could be seen that his way of communication had a rich variety of characteristics.His friends and he would communicate through letters across the field,and would also get together with friends,go on trips and talk freely at tea parties.He would also relax and enhance mutual friendship outside of his busy academic and teaching life.Third,the other elements of the communication.From Deng Zhicheng’s communications with students and booksellers,it was shown that some of the systems and training methods of the history department of Yanjing University at that time regarding the training of students,as well as some of the hard work done by Glass Street for the circulation of books and the preservation of ancient books.Some issues about the treatment of university professors were finally explored in terms of Deng Zhicheng’s remuneration during his time at Yanjing University.Fourth,the reflection of Deng Zhicheng’s communication activities.The communication activities of Deng Zhicheng were summarized and considered.The characteristics of Deng Zhicheng’s communication activities,the character of Deng’s own temperament revealed in his communications,and his life’s greatness of being mindful of the times and detached from politics were summarized.Focusing on Deng Zhicheng’s diaries,his interpersonal communication is investigated.Through Deng Zhicheng’s own daily life and communications,the study aims to further reflect the daily life of some intellectuals during the Republic of China through the study of Deng Zhicheng,thus deepening the study of the history of social life. |
