| Since the New Age,the "going abroad fever" has led to a trend in the creation of novels about wandering abroad. In terms of time, the overseas exploration of early Chinese workers and the overseas struggle of new immigrants in the new era are the two major contents of these novels. The historical perspective and the depth of the present present a complete picture of the overseas wanderings of Chinese people over the past hundred years. The novels about overseas wanderings in the new era are also in line with the entire history of Chinese literature, and the creative psychology of Chinese literati is evident. This paper attempts to study the novels on the subject of overseas wanderings since the New Period from four aspects: writing history, cultural space, characterization of "overseas wanderers" and narrative mode, and examine the development and textual characteristics of these novels. The first chapter brings the overseas vagrant theme novels since the new era into the development context of overseas vagrant theme novels in the whole history of modern literature.By tracing back to the source,we can explore the traditional characteristics of the writing of overseas drift theme novels, and more importantly,we can sort out the new changes in the writing of such novels since the new era compared with the early ones, with a view to more accurately positioning and grasping them from the perspective of the development of the history of Chinese literature, and analyze their unique value connotation. The second chapter starts with space and culture, and discusses the writing horizon of the overseas drift theme novel. The dual space and culture are the "inborn" attributes of such novels, which determine the depth and scope of the writing vision of such novels. The theme novel of overseas drift in the new era shows the replacement of the original home space and the current foreign space for people, which is related to the pursuit of spiritual Utopia space. At the same time, different spaces create different cultures. This kind of cultural conflict not only transcends ethnic countries, but also has the nature of comparing the strengths and weaknesses of China and the West because of transnational. Here,we focus on exploring the deep conflicts caused by the cultural differences shown in such novels and the writing strategies to seek the integration and use to alleviate the cultural conflicts. The third chapter studies the construction of the novel’s soul, that is,the character image of overseas drifters, and analyzes their living conditions and spiritual conditions. Here,we focus on the two most prominent problems of "marginalization" and "identity" dilemma.Overseas drifters are marginalized in multiple dimensions of class, race, and culture. In addition,as the direct encounter under the conflict between the two worlds, they are abandoned by both worlds at the same time,The dual "other" has become their unique identity. The fourth chapter discusses the unique narrative mode of the novel "drifting overseas" in the new period.First of all,the end of the images of the wanderers is predestined. They either return to their homeland or stay overseas, and some end their wanderings with death.Secondly, the novels with the theme of "drifting abroad" since the new period are full of legend. The wanderers and their various experiences themselves are extraordinary people and things. The creators consciously write the ups and downs of the overseas wandering experiences of families and individuals with legendary writing techniques.Thirdly, family is of great significance to the vagrants. They either care about family wandering,or run away from home,or join hands with their families in the form of group wandering. Therefore,it can be said that the familycentered kinship narrative is a narrative mode of "overseas wandering" themed novels in the new era. |
