In recent years, the phenomenon of "Chinese Fever" spread across the world rapidly. Indonesia, being a country with the largest ethnic Chinese population, does not lack such that phenomenon. Currently, more and more Indonesian are putting higher emphasize on Chinese education, as exemplified by increasing number of students studying Chinese culture and language in China. At the same time, there is also increasing number of Indonesian professors being sent to China for various training. The main objectives of these moves are to foster Chinese language acquisition among Indonesian youths and spread the Chinese culture in Indonesia. Better language and cultural environments are often cited as one of the benefits of learning Chinese language in China. As a result, each year, there is increasing number of Indonesian going to China to study. There are various challenges that have to be faced by Indonesian students studying in China, for example language environments, weather change, diet, education style, and social customs. These challenges may cause various cross-cultural adaptation problems that are worth studying.In this paper, Indonesian students studying in Xiamen are the objects of the survey. Survey is conducted through literature study, questionnaires, and face-to-face interview with questions on various aspects of life in China. Questions have been set at the following six points; first, whether or not the subject faced cross-cultural communication problems, second, what strategies used to overcome the cross-cultural adaptation problems, third, whether or not the subject understood Chinese culture prior to coming to Xiamen, fourth, whether or not the subject received Chinese language training and other training prior to coming to Xiamen, fifth, whether or not the training has helped in overcoming the cross-cultural communication problems, sixth, what trainings are recommended to new students going to Xiamen. Through these questions, analysis is conducted to understand cross-cultural adaptation of Indonesian students studying in Xiamen. Various suggestions and countermeasures will also be provided at the end of this paper.
