School physical education is an important aspect of promoting the physical and mental health development,life integrity,and personality integrity of young people.School physical education is not only a field of education,but also a synonym for sports in a narrow sense.The May Fourth New Culture Movement period was the primary stage of China’s socialist modernization path.The main national education concept during this period was the "sound personality" quality education concept advocated by the National Higher Education Research Committee in 1919,which also replaced the earliest military national sports culture concept in 1912.The "sound personality" proposed in 1919 is an important educational purpose that has practical significance in the field of education after the May Fourth New Culture Movement,an important driving force for achieving socialist modernization,and an important concept still upheld in school physical education today.The educational concept of "sound personality" determines the important position of school physical education,and school physical education determines its direction based on the concept of physical education.Therefore,during the May Fourth New Culture Movement,in order to achieve the initial construction of socialist modernization,China centered around the educational purpose of the school of "sound personality" in 1919,and with the joint efforts of New Culture Movement figures such as Mao Zedong,Yun Daiying,Li Dazhao,and Chen Duxiu,proposed the "sound personality" school sports ideology during the May Fourth New Culture Movement.Through various research tools,including documentary research,logical analysis,case studies,and expert interviews,this paper has obtained a wealth of information from multiple sources,including historical archives,digital libraries,biographies,educational treatises,compilations,newspapers,and tool books.After in-depth consideration and understanding,the core research direction of this paper has been clearly defined,which is to take the idea of "sound personality" school sports during the May Fourth New Culture Movement as the research object.This paper systematizes the historical background of the idea of sound personality quality education,summarizes the reasons for the formation of the idea of "sound personality" school sports during the May Fourth New Culture Movement,the practice process,and finally conducts a specific study on the historical reflections and realistic influences,as well as the development of the school sports system,school sports curriculum,extracurricular sports,and school health through The study is supported by concrete examples of school physical education systems,school physical education reflected in the material care of the biological organism,but also in the care of the inner world and spiritual world of human beings.This awakening made "sound personality" the theme word of the time for school sports in the May Fourth period.Therefore,all the activities of the May Fourth New Culture Movement revolved around this theme.In order to modernize our society,Mao Zedong,Yun Daying,and other advanced figures began to explore the path of modernization in China,and the "modernization of man",the image of the "new youth",the "cultivation of a sound personality",and the "education" of science and technology that they proposed to transform the nature of the nation.In addition,the idea of "sound personality" was gradually formed in school sports under the effect of their ideas of "sound personality",such as the educational purpose of cultivating a sound personality,the Kexuan controversy and the pursuit of life outlook.(3)The 1922 Nonsuch School System was one of the the times,with "sound personality" as the eternal theme of school physical education,and advocated the principle of "five education programs" and "all-round development" to cultivate students’ physical and mental integrity.In the new journey of achieving the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation,the study of "sound personality" school sports thought during the May Fourth New Culture
