| This thesis is a practice report based on the translation of the introduction and the first two chapters of the medical informative text Rapid Virus Recovery.The book serves as a guidebook outlining proven methods for better health,superior immunity,and the elimination of all life-threatening viral illnesses from our future.It focuses on eliminating the virus so that patients can recover,and introduces low-cost and effective treatments such as hydrogen peroxide nebulization and takes vitamin C.The information about Rapid Virus Recovery helps to dispel the fear of viruses.The translation practice was completed under the guidance of the translation shifts theory proposed by Catford.This practice report analyzes the practical problems encountered in the translation process at lexical level and syntactical level,and problems are solved through level shifts and category shifts.Before translation,the translator identifies the important and difficult points of the translation by analyzing the linguistic features of the source text.In terms of lexis,the source text has many proper nouns,medical terms,pharmaceutical terms,abbreviations and amphibious words.In terms of syntax,there are many long sentences,clauses,non-predicate verbs and passive voice.Under the guidance of translation shifts theory,the translator used level shifts,class shifts and intra-system shifts to solve the problems at the lexical level,and unit shifts and structure shifts to solve the problems at the syntactical level.Through the case analysis,it can be concluded that Catford’s translation shifts theory has a guiding significance for the translation of medical informative text.Under the guidance of translation shifts theory,the translator pays attention to the shift of linguistic information and makes the translated information semantically identical to the original information by using different shift methods.This report is expected to provide references for the translation of medical informative text. |
