| As the representative poets of the Sino-Vietnamese symbolism trend in the first half of the 20 th century,Dai Wangshu and Xuan Dieu not only absorbed the poetic art from the West but also inherited the literary tradition from the East,and created symbolism new poetry with modernity and nationality,which were widely recognized and loved by the people and left a brilliant mark in the history of literature.This thesis will use the theoretical framework of comparative literature to conduct a systematic comparative study of these two important symbolism poets from different countries,analyze in depth the similarities and differences in their symbolism new poetry and uncover the cultural characteristics behind them.So as to get a glimpse of the symbolism trend in the modernization process of Chinese and Vietnamese literature and the cultural psychology of the two countries in their similarities and differences.This thesis will compare the symbolism new poetry of Dai Wangshu and Xuan Dieu in the context of parallel studies in comparative literature.The main body of the thesis is divided into four chapters.Chapter 1 provides a general overview of the creative backgrounds of Dai Wangshu and Xuan Dieu,discusses the development of symbolism new poetry in China and Vietnam,and analyses the origin of the creation of the two poets’ symbolism new poetry.Chapter 2 specifically explores two prominent themes in Dai Wangshu’s and Xuan Dieu’s symbolism new poetry,namely love and death,and analyzes the similarities and differences in the emotions and thinking of the two poets.Chapter 3 examines the three major images of "water" "flower" and "cyan" which are a large part of Dai Wangshu’s and Xuan Dieu’s symbolism new poetry,and further explores the cultural psychology of the two poets,as well as the differences between Eastern and Western poetic arts.Chapter 4 focuses on the "correspondances" theory,which is both a basic creative technique of symbolism poetry and a unique philosophical view of symbolism.Dai Wangshu and Xuan Dieu,who both belonged to the sinosphere,embodied the acceptance and filtering of the "correspondances" theory,as well as the blending of Eastern and Western cultures in their new poetry.The symbolism new poetry of both Dai Wangshu and Xuan Dieu reached a peak,and the two poets skillfully found a balance between the poetry arts and aesthetic of the East and the West,allowing the symbolism from the West to take root in their own soil and giving new life and vitality to the classical literary tradition,outlining a corner of the times in the creation of symbolism new poetry belonging to their own nation. |
