Petroleum is the blood of industry, which supports China's peaceful rising. Technological innovation of oil exploitation not only helps expand domestic oil production, but also served as a means of the cooperation with the international community. Multi-stage hydraulic fracturing is the key technology enabling the oil and gas industry to unlock unconventional resources, which aroused attention in China long ago that great manpower, material resources and financial resources have been invested in it. "Evaluation of the Shale Volume Reconstruction" is the key scientific research project of the shale demonstration area of Sinopec in Fuling, which is the shale demonstration area of Sinopec. This project aims to study and evaluate the changing laws and influential factors of volume reconstruction during the hydraulic operations and to provide technological support and optimization design for exploitation in Fuling. Research into and analysis of status quo of fracturing techniques both at home and abroad should be done before this project. School of Petroleum and Natural Gas Engineering of Southwest Petroleum University designated "Fluid Flow Modeling in Multi-stage Hydraulic Fracturing Patterns for Production Optimization in Shale Reservoirs" as translation material and entrusted School of Foreign Languages Southwest Petroleum University with this translation task. This translation task laid a foundation for the success of "Evaluation of the Shale Volume Reconstruction".On the basis of the source text:"Fluid Flow Modeling in Multi-stage Hydraulic Fracturing Patterns for Production Optimization in Shale Reservoirs", this translation report gives an overview of translation process and completion status. This translation report is divided into four parts. The first part is Introduction, which introduces the background, theoretical guidance and significance of this translation program. The second part includes three parts:the main content of the source text, language features and structure of text. The third part explains some difficult points during translation process and translation methods. Difficult points are classified into terminology translation, abbreviation translation, specialization of common words, passive voice translation and long sentences translation. According to the main concepts of Nida's functional equivalence theory, the translator focuses on how to employ translation methods such as inversion, addition, omission, conversion and division to solve translation difficulties. The fourth chapter involves enlightenment, lessons and problems to be solved.The translator practices her translation ability and acquires some knowledge about hydraulic fracturing through this translation process. A qualified translator should not only have good language competence but also have perserverance to practice his or her translation skills. It is hoped that the result of this translation not only offers the latest research material to the members of "Evaluation of the Shale Volume Reconstruction", but also provides references to the researchers in the field of oil and gas industry.
