The Influence Of College Students’ Short Video Addiction On Academic Procrastination-The Chain Mediation Between Trait Anxiety And Academic Delayed Satisfaction

Academic procrastination is an irrational behavior of students to postpone their academic tasks,which is widespread among college students and affects their academic performance and physical and mental health.In previous studies,academic procrastination was mainly influenced by personality traits,self-regulation and external environment.Trait anxiety refers to personality traits with relatively stable and lasting anxiety tendency;Academic delayed gratification is the self-regulation ability of students in the process of realizing long-term academic goals;Short video addiction refers to the behavior of individuals who have adverse effects on their body,mind and behavior due to improper use of short videos.After combing the related factors that affect academic procrastination,it is found that short video addiction,trait anxiety,academic delayed gratification and academic procrastination are correlated in pairs,and based on the self-regulation theory,it can be predicted that trait anxiety and academic delayed gratification play an intermediary role in short video addiction and academic procrastination.In this study,651 college students were surveyed with Short Video Addiction Scale,Trait Anxiety Scale,Academic Delay Satisfaction Scale and Academic Delay Scale to explore the influence of short video addiction on academic procrastination,as well as the separate mediating effects of trait anxiety and academic delay satisfaction between short video addiction and academic delay,and the multiple mediating effects of trait anxiety and academic delay satisfaction between short video addiction and academic delay,and the hypothesis was tested by SPSS26.0.The research results show that:(1)College students’ short video addiction,trait anxiety and academic procrastination are in the lower middle level,while their academic procrastination is in the upper middle level.(2)College students’ short video addiction significantly positively predicted academic procrastination and trait anxiety,and negatively predicted academic delay satisfaction;Trait anxiety significantly negatively predicted academic delay satisfaction and significantly positively predicted academic procrastination;Academic procrastination negatively predicts academic procrastination.(3)College students’ trait anxiety and academic delay satisfaction have a mediating effect between short video addiction and academic delay.Specifically,short video addiction induces trait anxiety by making college students feel socially isolated,and then relieves anxiety by delaying their studies;At the same time,the lack of time to complete academic tasks caused by short video addiction has prompted college students to have "escape" psychology,weakened their ability to meet academic delays,and further caused academic procrastination because of the failure of self-regulation system.(4)College students’ trait anxiety and academic delay satisfaction play a chain intermediary role between short video addiction and academic delay.The research structure shows that short video addiction can affect academic procrastination through the chain mediation of trait anxiety and academic delayed gratification.High-level short video addiction will lead to higher trait anxiety,weaken the ability of academic delayed gratification,and promote college students to have higher academic procrastination.The above results show that reducing college students’ short video addiction level is an effective way to reduce college students’ academic procrastination.At the same time,reducing college students’ trait anxiety level can also reduce academic procrastination,or promoting the satisfaction level of college students’ academic procrastination is also helpful to reduce academic procrastination.
