Sisters Xiao is one of the traditional Musical Instruments of the minority in our country,mainly spreading in the minority areas in the southwest.Through the author’s field survey found that sister xiao is popular in the south,southwest and south of Guizhou Province.Taking sister Xiao of the Buyi ethnic group in southern Guizhou province as the research object,this paper adopts field investigation,comparative research,musical form analysis,oral history research and other methods to discuss the living environment,historical investigation,shape and performance techniques,musical form,social function and inheritance mode of sister xiao,and conducts a comparative and systematic study on the music culture of sister xiao in this region.Sister xiao of the Buyi ethnic group in Guizhou Province can be divided into two types in shape and system: edge tone pipe and reed flute.Sister xiao of the Buyi ethnic group popular in southern Guizhou Province belongs to reed flute and is mainly played in watch events,wedding occasions,traditional festivals and daily life.According to different singing contents and occasions,sister xiao music of the Buyi ethnic group in southern Guizhou Province can be divided into marriage,celebration and daily.Sister Xiao of the Buyi ethnic group in southern Guizhou Province mainly has three functions: aesthetic entertainment,emotional expression and cultural identity.In the long-term process of oral transmission,a unique notation has gradually formed,which makes it widely spread in the Bouyei settlements in this region.
