| The Great Dictionary of Chinese is a large language tool that includes both ancient and modern Chinese characters, with equal emphasis on sources and streams. It focuses on the close coordination of form, sound and meaning, and strives to reflect the development and changes of Chinese characters historically and correctly, and is an important tool for the study of Chinese characters.Since the introduction of the Dictionary, academics have paid extensive attention to it and studied it from various aspects, and the research results are fruitful, but there is still a lack of research on the dialect characters included in the Dictionary. The second edition was officially published in 2010,and contains more than60,000 words,of which dialect words only account for a small part, but they are also an indispensable part of the Dictionary of Chinese. In this paper,we adopt an exhaustive method to collect the dialect characters included in the second edition of the Great Dictionary of Chinese,i.e.,the characters marked with the word "dialect" in the explanatory text.Firstly,we provide an overview of the dialect characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese, and analyze the regional distribution and characteristics of the dialect characters in the context of the Chinese Dialect Dictionary. Then we analyze the dialectal characters of the Great Dictionary of Chinese from two aspects:pronunciation and interpretation, and compare the dialectal characters of the Great Dictionary of Chinese with those of the Chinese Character Sea,in order to examine the problems of the Great Dictionary of Chinese and make suggestions for revision, and also to discuss some problems of the inclusion of dialectal characters in the dictionary. The article consists of five main parts as follows:Introduction. It explains the reason, purpose and significance of the topic, explains the current situation of the study of the Great Dictionary of Chinese and dialectal characters, describes the important and difficult points of the study and the innovation points, and introduces the selected corpus and the research method. In the first chapter, the dialectal characters included in the Great Dictionary of Chinese are collected and organized into a corpus, and an overview of the dialectal characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese is given from two aspects: the collected characters and the regional distribution.Firstly, the collection of dialect words in the Dictionary is explained from two aspects: words used only in dialects and words used in both dialects and Mandarin;then the regional distribution of dialect words in the Dictionary is statistically analyzed in conjunction with the Dictionary of Chinese Dialects, and the distribution characteristics of dialect words are summarized. In the second chapter, the dialectal characters of the Great Dictionary of Chinese are studied from the aspect of annotation.Firstly,we analyze the pronunciation methods of the dialect characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese and summarize their advantages and disadvantages;secondly,we compare the dialect characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese with the Chinese Character Sea;finally,we analyze the two main problems in the pronunciation of the dialect characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese, which are pronunciation errors and missing pronunciations. In the third chapter,we study the dialectal characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese in terms of their interpretation.Firstly, the terminology and interpretation of the dialect words in the Great Dictionary of Chinese are explained, and on this basis,it is concluded that there are problems in the interpretation of the dialect words in the Great Dictionary of Chinese, such as confusing terminology, inappropriate interpretation, and missing examples, and then a comparative study is made with the Chinese Character Sea in terms of interpretation content, interpretation style, and citation, and the advantages of the interpretation of the Great Dictionary of Chinese are concluded. In the fourth chapter, based on the systematic analysis of the dialectal characters in the Great Dictionary of Chinese, the problems of the Great Dictionary of Chinese are discussed and suggestions for revision are made from three aspects, such as analogical simplification, pronunciation of dialectal characters, and labeling of dialectal areas. |
