The Complement To The Funeral Words In The Great Chinese Dictionary

As the largest and most successful language dictionary in nowadays, the Great Chinese Dictionary(GCD for short) focus on the words' ancient and modern styles, and try its best to show the original appearances. Because of the limited conditions, the compilation has some shortcomings. So, many researchers have been doing their exhaustive studys on one particular aspect of the GCD. As a type of cultural terms, funeral words have a profound historical background, and play an irreplaceable role in the history and our morden life. But most researchers concern on the funeral customs. And there are few comprehensive monographs on the funeral words, especially the funeral words in the GCD. Therefore, this article will do a study on the funeral words in the GCD. In order to do a benefit for the interpretation of funeral words, the article takes the funeral ceremony process and the utensil as the clue, do a research from the aspects of interpretation, illustration and word-catching.The introduction mainly introduces the GCD and shows us a simple situation and the significance of current researches. Also it defines and classifys the funeral words.The first part observes and studys the interpretation of the funeral words in the GCD. It falls into three parts, the words about "bin","cuo","guan" and so on.The second part focuses on the illustration of the funeral words in the GCD and shows the most earlier examples.The third part does a study on the word-catching of the funeral words in the GCD and supplements some words.At last, in conclusion, the article summarizes the progress of this study, pointing out the inadequacies of previous studies.
