| In consecutive interpretation, listening comprehension is the first step and also an important step, which will directly affect the other steps and ultimately the quality of the interpretation. This thesis takes the case of the “Fourth Annual Chinese-French Symposium for Cooperation and Exchange on Artificial Intelligence” mock conference as an exemple,in order to study listening comprehension problems in consecutive interpretation. The thesis first defines listening comprehension and discusses its importance in consecutive interpretation. Then, through a case review, the main manifestations of listening comprehension barriers are summarized. It then analyses the three main causes of these barriers: insufficient linguistic ability, insufficient professional ability and insufficient extra-linguistic knowledge. Finally, strategies are given to deal with these three causes, including increasing vocabulary, improving logical and analytical skills, optimising effort distribution and expanding the body of knowledge.Through this case study, the author has better understood her shortcomings and found strategies to cope with them, which she hopes to use in practice to continuously improve her interpretation ability and refine her professional proficiency. |
