Class lead-in is not only a preparatory stage for students to move from a non-learning status to a learning status,but also a pivotal link in creating a real language communication situation.In recent years,with the country’s increasing emphasis on compulsory education English courses,primary school English teachers have become more and more aware of the significance and the value of class lead-in in the process of English teaching.Various kinds of class lead-in have been born at the right moment,but the trouble comes continually.In contrast,the well-arranged lead-in of high-quality English class in primary school can provide the normal class useful reference.This research selects 31 high-quality lessons from the 9th National Primary School English Classroom Teaching Observation Class as observation samples.The research is guided by the constructivism learning theory and the affective filter hypothesis,and the main research method is observation method.Observe these five aspects of the high-quality class,including the methods of lead-in,the materials of lead-in,the duration of lead-in,teacher’s speech behavior in lead-in,and teacher’s non-verbal behavior in lead-in.This research aims to solve three questions:(1)What are the advantages of lead-in in primary English high-quality classes?(2)What are the disadvantages of lead-in in primary English high-quality classes?(3)What proposals of lead-in can these advantages and disadvantages offer for the normal primary English class?The study found that there are some advantages in lead-in of primary English high-quality classes: The coexistence of diversity and creativity in the lead-in methods;The coexistence of the richness and fun in the lead-in materials;Teachers of high-quality class can distribute the duration of lead-in reasonably;Teachers of high-quality class pursue the language art of lead-in;Teachers of high-quality class can can use non-verbal behaviors appropriately.In addition,the study found that there are two shortcomings of high-quality classes: Some of the lead-in activities are not targeted enough;Some teachers lack guidance when students are answering questions.Regarding the advantages and disadvantages of high-quality lessons in the class lead-in,this research proposes the following seven teaching inspirations,aims to improve the lead-in in normal English class: Innovative methods of lead-in;Broaden materials of lead-in;Control duration of lead-in reasonably;Use classroom language appropriately,Use non-verbal behaviors effectively;Design more targeted lead-in activities;Strengthen the guidance of students’ responses.
