| In recent times,it is extremely easy to see the dynamic changes in trends when it comes to interest in learning foreign languages.The number of Polish schools,universities and other education institutions,both public and private,that are opening different kinds of majors connected to oriental languages is increasing year by year.Among them,the most popular language is Chinese.The aim of this paper is to look into the problems that teachers in Poland have to face in the course of teaching Chinese as a foreign language.First the historical background of Chinese teaching as a foreign language in Poland is explored,as well as current situation of Chinese education in this country.Next,the problems and difficulties of teaching Chinese as a foreign language are explored,especially focusing on aspects such as the choice of teaching methods,selection of coursebook and syllabus.By carrying out questionnaires as well as face-to-face interviews,it was observed that the main obstacles to efficiently teach Chinese in Poland are students’ mindset,examination system,Polish teachers’ teaching strategies and their competence,as well as learning environment in the classroom.In the very last part of the article,some teaching suggestions are given and different ways to improve the situation of teaching Chinese in Poland are presented.Those include instructions for student centered teaching approach,creating beneficial Chinese learning environment with good access to equipment and teaching materials. |
