The Application Of Line Elements In The Creation Of Black And White Woodcut Prints

This paper explores the application of "line element" in the creation of black and white woodcuts,and believes that "line",as a basic element and artistic language in the creation of black and white woodcuts,shapes the body in the concrete and expresses the meaning in the abstract,which has rich forms and meanings,and endows the black and white woodcuts with unique aesthetic value.With the research method of analyzing excellent printmakers,this paper explores the expression form of line element in black and white woodcut from three parts: subjectivity,expressiveness and emotion.Line itself does not have these characteristics,but it gets different feelings and emotional ideas along with the artist’s habits,subjective consciousness and psychological changes,which endows the works with emotional expression and gives the figure a certain vitality.Explore the expression and application of "line element" in black and white woodcuts in three chapters.The first chapter is an overall overview of line elements,a brief description of what is line elements,and analysis of the characteristics of line elements.The second chapter is the expression form of line element in black and white woodcut,from the decorative,expressive,emotional three aspects.The third chapter is the application of line element in the creation of "Changes" series.Through the theoretical research in the first two chapters and the analysis of the artistic styles and works of related printmakers,I understand the function of line element in printmaking and apply it to my printmaking.
