Context is an important factor in the occurrence of communicative activities.Contextual pedagogy,which is derived from context,is now widely used in language teaching and foreign language teaching in primary and secondary schools in China,and contextual pedagogy also has an important guiding role for international Chinese education,especially for reading teaching at advanced levels,which is closely related to contextual factors.Combining with teaching practice,this paper explores the application of contextual teaching method in advanced reading teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.First,this paper gives a general overview of the connotation and characteristics of contextual teaching method,including the connotation,theoretical basis,characteristics and application principles of contextual teaching method,and proposes the general teaching process of contextual teaching method in reading teaching.Secondly,through a questionnaire survey and the literature review,the feasibility of using contextual teaching method in advanced Chinese reading teaching is discussed from three aspects: the goal of advanced reading teaching,the content of advanced reading teaching,and the use of context in advanced reading teaching.Among them,the survey of students and teachers reveals that there are "weak awareness of students’ independent context creation,teachers’ lack of understanding of context teaching,and teachers’ single method of creating context" in advanced reading teaching,and analyzes the reasons for the existing problems of context teaching.Then,combining with the observation and teaching practice in the internship,the author further elaborates the specific strategies of contextual teaching method,situational context teaching method,cognitive context teaching method,socio-cultural context teaching method,and virtual context teaching method in advanced Chinese reading teaching,and take newspaper reading class as an example,the paper makes full use of contextual teaching method in specific teaching practice and discusses the effect of contextual teaching method in instructional climate,learning outcome and teaching by interviewing students.Finally,based on the application of contextual teaching method in the teaching of advanced Chinese reading,the paper puts forward some thoughts and suggestions from the perspectives of teachers,students and professional research,so as to provide a broader role for contextual teaching method in the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
