The phenomenon of "enantiosemy" is an interesting linguistic phenomenon in Chinese and even in other languages, and is of high research value. The origin of this paper is the word "appearing",which appears frequently in daily life, and after discovering that the word can have two opposite meanings,we started to collect various reference materials to study the phenomenon.Based on the previous classification of enantiosemy and the current frequency of enantiosemy, the phenomenon of "enantiosemy" can be divided into two categories:enantiosemy in the direction category and enantiosemy in the result category. In this paper,we focus on the typical verb "wipe",which is an enantiosemy in the result category, and after sorting out the ancient and modern meanings and pronunciation of "wipe",we also analyse the lexical meaning and syntactic features of "wipe".The paper also attempts to explain the different meanings of the phenomenon of "enantiosemy" cognitively with the help of the event-domain cognitive model and Optimistic tendencies. Finally, this paper argues that the semantic coherence in the phenomenon of "enantiosemy" may change with the specific situation due to the diachronic evolution of its semantics and the differences in people’s comprehension tendencies. The phenomenon can be studied through structure,event-domain cognitive models, and optimism tendencies.Based on the above research results, this paper puts forward the positive significance of "enantiosemy" in Chinese classroom teaching, and lists four principles that should be followed in the teaching process to help students better understand the phenomenon of "enantiosemy" and improve their enthusiasm for learning Chinese.
