China is one of the most populous countries in the world,with a population of approximately 1.4 billion people,equivalent to 1.4 billion people who speak Chinese as their mother tongue,and it is a highly developed country economically.This is the main reason for the increasing development and popularity of Chinese globally.For Vietnam,China is not only a neighboring country but also considered as a comprehensive strategic partner,with cooperation in various fields such as economy,culture,society,and education.Especially since the normalization of Vietnam-China relations in 1991,it has created favorable conditions for the development of Chinese education in Vietnam.Therefore,the number of people learning Chinese in Vietnam has been increasing continuously since 1991.Recently,during General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to China from October30 to November 1,2022,the two countries reached many agreements,including a joint statement on Chinese education and training.Both sides agreed to earnestly implement the Vietnam-China Education Cooperation Agreement,and China committed to providing Vietnam with no less than 1,000 Chinese government scholarships and no less than 1,000 scholarships for Chinese language teachers within the next 5 years;and to help Vietnam cultivate high-quality talents and Chinese language teachers.This indicates that Chinese training and education hold a very important position in the relationship and development between the two countries.Currently,there are more than 30 universities in Vietnam that specialize in offering Chinese majors,and 27 Vietnamese-Chinese education institutions have jointly approved training programs by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam.Thus,for formal Chinese education,the curriculum framework for Chinese language training courses has been perfected,with a focus on cultivating students’ practical abilities.Meanwhile,with the continuous development of society,the group of people learning Chinese is becoming more diverse,not only limited to university students,but also non-professional learners in Chinese training institutions.However,the teaching problems of Chinese training institutions have not yet received sufficient investment and research.Currently,research mainly focuses on teaching skills and Chinese courses in universities and high schools.Realizing that non-professional Chinese education in Vietnam is an important part of Chinese education,I chose to study Chinese training institutions in Hanoi as the main research object and investigate the development trends of Hanoi’s Chinese training institutions in recent years.This thesis mainly uses document research,questionnaire survey,and comparative methods.Through studying different objects,integrating,comparing,and analyzing,this thesis conducts research on all aspects of Chinese training institutions in Hanoi,including their quantity and distribution,teacher teams and students,courses and textbooks.At the same time,an evaluation of the development of Chinese training institutions was conducted,including their scale,courses and teaching methods,development on social networks,and international cooperation.Based on Eliss’ ten principles of teaching and Tomlinson’s localized teaching materials as the basic theory,evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of training institutions.Through this research,it can be seen that the Chinese language training institutions in Hanoi are developing rapidly.The number of Chinese training institutions has increased,and many training institutions have opened branches in various parts of Hanoi and achieved specialization.The number of students is varied and the majority are new learners of the Chinese language;this proves that the Chinese language attracts the majority of foreign language learners.The quality of teachers in Chinese language training institutions is gradually improving,mainly with undergraduate degrees or above,and many university teachers are also involved in teaching.According to social needs,courses have also become more abundant.In addition to HSK courses,HSKK courses,communication courses and courses ordered in China have been added,which can be taught offline or online.In the process of development,Chinese language teaching has also been affected by the 2019 novel coronavirus,and a historic turning point has occurred.After the epidemic,online courses have become an important part of the curriculum of Chinese language training institutions.Chinese language training institutions also try their best to take advantage of social networks,such as Facebook,Douyin,etc.,to enrich the content of the homepage of training institutions and attract students.In addition,some training institutions have begun to cooperate with Chinese universities to organize study abroad lectures,academic lectures,cultural exchanges,etc.It can be said that Chinese language training institutions have entered a new stage-the stage of applying technology and integrating with the world.In addition to these remarkable developments,the teaching of Chinese language training institutions has the characteristics of non-professional Chinese education,so there are still shortcomings.Therefore,my thesis points out the problems existing in Hanoi Chinese training institutions and Vietnam’s national Chinese training institutions,and proposes solutions.This thesis is divided into 5 chapters,as follows:The first chapter introduces the research background,research object,research method,research significance and theoretical basis of the selected topic.The second chapter,through investigation,researches the current situation of various Chinese training institutions in Hanoi,including the number and distribution,curriculum setting,and teacher-student relationship.The third chapter recognizes that the development of Chinese training institutions cannot be divorced from the actual situation in Vietnam,and focuses on the development trend of Chinese training institutions in recent years.Especially since 2019,affected by the epidemic,the teaching methods and development direction of Chinese language training institutions have undergone great changes.The fourth chapter summarizes the students’ opinions through investigation,summarizes the advantages and disadvantages of teaching in Chinese training institutions,and gives their own suggestions for improving teaching methods.The fifth chapter includes conclusions,innovations and deficiencies of the thesis.
