| Adolescence are the key period of individuals’ growth, adolescents’ development and adaptation could not only influence their current life conditions, but also affect their future adaptation.Well-being is a research hotspot in the background of positive psychology,as an important indicator of individuals’ development and adaptation, and there are two main types of research orientations on well-being: subjective well-being and psychological well-being.Most domestic studies focus on subjective well-being,while psychological well-being is objective and comprehensive, which is more in line with the study of well-being in modern society. At the same time, previous studies have shown that parental warmth,as a positive external environmental resource, plays an important role in promoting psychological well-being,which not only helps individuals perceive positive emotions and promote self-exploration,but also can improve psychological well-being.Meanwhile,self-compassion,as a positive psychological quality, plays a mediating role in promoting the positive development of psychological well-being.Therefore,this study would focus on the effect of parental warmth on junior high school students’ psychological well-being and further examine the mechanism of the role of self-compassion in it,and implement self-compassion group counseling on this basis in order to improve junior high school students’ psychological well-being.Specifically,there were two sub-studies in this research:Study 1 adopted a questionnaire survey method, using the S-EMBU-C Scale, the Self-Compassion Scale and the Psychological Well-Being Scale, and a total of 630 students in the first and second grades were randomly recruited as participants in a middle school in Wuhan,China,to explore the relationship between parental emotional warmth,self-compassion and psychological well-being of middle school students.Based on Study 1,Study 2 then designed a group counseling program under the perspective of self-compassion,with the aim to enhance the level of self-compassion of adolescents in order to improve psychological well-being.Twenty-six junior high school students were recruited and randomly assigned to the experimental and control groups, and eight sessions of group counseling(four weeks of total counseling cycle, twice a week)were conducted for the experimental group, while the control group was left untreated to test the effectiveness of the intervention program. The results of the study were as follows:(1)there was a significant positive correlation between parental warmth, psychological well-being and self-compassion;(2)self-compassion played a partly mediating role in the relationship between parental warmth and psychological well-being of junior high school students;(3)group counseling activities of self-compassion were conducive to improving junior high school students’ level of self-compassion and psychological well-being,and the group counseling program had certain intervention effects. This study elucidates the mechanism underlying the influence of parental warmth on junior high school students’ psychological well-being from the perspective of self-compassion,which enriches the existing research on the influence of parental warmth on well-being to a certain extent and also provides some application guidelines for future school psychology health teachers to develop group counseling activities in the area of self-awareness,especially self-compassion. |
