Discourse Analysis Of Military Reports In The New Era

Since the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,a series of new ideas,new viewpoints and new judgment requirements have emerged around the national defense and military construction,forming Xi Jinping’s thought of strengthening the army.The goal of strengthening the army and building a world-class army came into being.The’People’s Daily’s serious and authoritative China’s No.1 newspaper has been playing an important role in military defense coverage.It is not only an important responsibility and mission of the times,but also a powerful way to enhance the media’s communication,influence,guidance and credibility by telling the stories of the Chinese army and disseminating the positive military image.Starting from the end of the 18 th National Congress of the Communist Party of China,this paper selects 732 reports on the media image of military personnel in the new era in the People ’s Daily from December 2012 to December 2021,and builds ’body corpus ’ and ’title corpus’.Based on Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework of discourse analysis,critical discourse analysis and framework theory,Python and corpus tools are used to analyze the military image reports in the new era in a qualitative and quantitative way.Trying to solve the following problems:What are the characteristics of military news reports in the new era in the construction of military image?What are the layout distribution,topic content and media image presentation of military image reports in the new era?How does the "People’s Daily" military image report discourse construct the military media image in the new era?What is the social role and influence of this discourse?Does the mainstream media in the new era have problems in the process of presenting the image of military media?This paper is divided into six parts:The first chapter introduces the background,research background and significance of the new era and summarizes theory.The second chapter has carried on the corpus construction through the sample collection,and through to 732 news report content category code,from the report layout and column,news source,report theme,report object four aspects carries on the overall framework analysis.The third chapter is the text analysis in Fairclough’s three-dimensional framework.With the help of word frequency statistics and part of speech analysis functions of corpus tools,this paper studies the vocabulary and mood of corpus text,and summarizes its micro discourse characteristics.The fourth chapter analyzes discourse practice,including style and rhetoric,context analysis.The fifth chapter is the analysis of social practice in the three-dimensional framework.This chapter discusses the construction role of military reports,including the construction of military media image in the new era,the construction of knowledge and belief system,and the construction of public opinion.The sixth chapter summarizes the discourse construction characteristics of military reports in the new era,and puts forward the prospect of the discourse construction of military reports in the new mainstream media in the future.The innovation of this paper lies in:Firstly,it is one of the innovations to analyze the construction of military media image in the new era defined in the time range.Secondly,the corpus-assisted discourse analysis method is adopted,involving the knowledge of linguistics,sociology,communication and other disciplines.Through the computer-aided and manual intensive reading of the news discourse of the People’s Daily,the discourse characteristics,laws and functions of military reports in the new era are summarized,and the ideology behind them is excavated.
