Police personnel shortages are a worldwide issue,and in most cases,they are currently being handled through the recruitment of significant numbers of police auxiliary to handle the massive volume of police activity.At the moment,some countries and regions have had great success in building up their police auxiliaries,and their historical practice demonstrates that police auxiliaries have played a positive role in both local policing and ineffectively combating social crime and maintaining the overall safety of social life.As a result,experts all around the world have recognized the ongoing development and rise of police auxiliary forces.In contrast,the creation of the police auxiliary force in China is very new,and the administration system is now ineffective.The police auxiliary staff team is in charge of a huge number of affairs and fundamental tasks,but because the institutional mechanism is not assured,it is difficult to motivate the police auxiliary staff team to operate.The Measures for the Management of Police Auxiliary Personnel of Guangdong Public Security Organs went into force in 2016,resulting in the implementation of the police auxiliary personnel ranking system.At the moment,the ranking system is still in its early stages of deployment,and there have been few studies on the ranking system’s motivating impact on police auxiliary employees.How might the ranking system encourage more work initiative and excitement among police auxiliary personnel? It is a serious problem that needs to be investigated.The research object in this study is police auxiliary officers.Based on a review of the literature,this study combines equity theory,expectation theory,two-factor theory,and hierarchy of needs theory to investigate the implementation of a ranking system for police auxiliaries in Guangzhou’s L district from the standpoint of motivation using questionnaire and interview methods.It has been discovered that the ranking system affects an effect on the work motivation and job satisfaction of police auxiliary personnel.At the same time,it was discovered that there are still issues with the ranking system,such as limited understanding of the ranking system among police auxiliary,low pay,difficulties guaranteeing justice in the advancement of rank,and an insufficient protection mechanism.On this basis,the police auxiliary staff grade system to improve the police auxiliary staff grade set,optimize the assessment scheme,improve the salary and other aspects of the proposal,fully utilize the grading system management advantages,and strengthen the police auxiliary staff team construction to provide a reference.
