Since the Public Service Motivation(PSM)entered the academic field of vision,the research on the concept,structure,measurement and related variables of PSM has expanded rapidly.Moreover,with the development of the concept,PSM has also been extended to the research of volunteer service motivation.Nowadays,college students participate in various types of volunteer services,and college students are also active in all kinds of volunteer service organizations.However,there are still some problems such as low volunteer service investment,high personnel mobility and low service efficiency of volunteer service organizations.College student volunteers,as an important human resource of volunteer service organizations,is of great significance to improve the quality of volunteer service.It is still very important for all kinds of volunteer service organizations to deeply understand the motivation and behavior of College Students’ volunteer service from the individual and organizational levels.At present,the in-depth research on PSM in volunteer service in China’s academic circles is not enough.This paper analyzes the action mechanism of PSM on college students’ volunteer service behavior to provide suggestions for the cultivation,incentive and use of College Students’volunteers.At the same time,it is also a beneficial attempt to apply the Public Service Motivation Theory locally.Based on the research on Public Service Motivation,PersonOrganization Value Fit,Volunteer Satisfaction and college students’Volunteer Service Behavior at home and abroad,this study puts forward research ideas and research hypotheses.Based on Public Service Motivation Theory,Person-Organization Fit Theory and Social Exchange Theory,this study takes college students’ Public Service Motivation as independent variables,Person-Organization Value Fit perception and Volunteer Satisfaction are used as mediator variables,the Characteristics of Volunteer Activities is used as moderator variable,and Volunteer Service Behavior is used as dependent variable.A questionnaire is designed and distributed to college students.After collecting the questionnaire data,the reliability and validity of the scale involved in the study are tested.Through the empirical test of 824 effective questionnaires,it is found that college students’ Public Service Motivation and its four dimensions have a significant positive impact on Volunteer Service Behavior.Both PersonOrganization Value Fit perception and Volunteer Satisfaction can play a partial intermediary role in the impact of Public Service Motivation on Volunteer Service Behavior,and the two together play a chain mediating role in the impact of Public Service Motivation on Volunteer Service Behavior.The Characteristics of Volunteer Activities regulate the direct effect of College Students’ Public Service Motivation on Volunteer Service Behavior.Finally,according to the results of empirical analysis and interview,this paper puts forward relevant suggestions for better cultivating,motivating and managing volunteers and improving the service quality of volunteer service organizations. |
