Research On Volunteer Service Of Provincial Public Libraries In Eastern China

In recent years,under the background of the country’s vigorous development of cultural industry,people’s cultural needs are also increasing,and more people enter public libraries.However,due to the problems of insufficient number of librarians and incomplete service coverage in public libraries,it is difficult to ensure that every reader can obtain perfect cultural services.Therefore,local libraries have recruited various types of volunteers to participate in relevant library affairs.As a powerful supplement to the public library,volunteers play an important auxiliary role,and have played a great help in alleviating the working pressure of librarians and improving the operation efficiency of the library.The development of library volunteer service in China has been about 20 years.Compared with developed countries,the development gap in different regions is large,and there is still a lot of room for progress.This paper takes the provincial public libraries in the eastern region,this paper carries out the investigation by using the research methods of network survey,field survey and questionnaire.By understanding the current situation of volunteer service of provincial public libraries in the eastern region,the motivation of volunteers to participate in volunteer service and the incentive and obstacles affecting their participation in volunteer service,this paper analyzes the existing problems and puts forward some suggestions to improve the volunteer service of public libraries.This paper includes six sides: Chapter One is a general introduction of the research background,purpose and significance,the research status of volunteer service in public libraries at home and abroad,and the study content,innovations and methodology of the paper.The second is the elaboration of the concepts related to the volunteer service of public library.The third is to investigate the current situation of volunteer service carried out by provincial public libraries in eastern China,mainly to conduct network and field research on the recruitment and registration of volunteer service,volunteer service activities,training content and incentive evaluation system of public libraries.Fourth,take the volunteers of provincial public libraries in the eastern region as the research group,and conduct a questionnaire survey on their motivation to participate in voluntary service and the incentive and obstacles affecting their participation in voluntary service.Fifthly,through combing the current situation of library volunteer service and the results of questionnaire survey,this paper analyzes the problems existing in the development of volunteer service in provincial public libraries.Sixth,put forward optimization strategies for volunteer service of provincial public libraries in China,mainly to give corresponding improvement suggestions for the deficiencies found in this analysis and research.
