Research On The Social Participation Of Contemporary Rural Elderly People

In the process of urbanization,the mass exodus of young and middle-aged rural laborers has intensified the aging of rural population structure.Under the concept of "active aging",the needs and abilities of the elderly to participate in society are receiving more and more attention from all walks of life.The social participation of the rural elderly,like their health and security status,is a major component of the quality of life of the rural elderly,and is of great relevance to the elderly themselves,their families,society and the nation.The study of social participation of rural elderly groups has important theoretical significance and practical guidance value for promoting scientific formulation of aging policies and actively coping with population aging.Based on the hierarchy of needs theory and welfare pluralism theory,this study examined the needs,current situation and basic characteristics of social participation of the elderly group in village H through a combination of questionnaires and qualitative interviews to understand the social participation picture of the rural elderly.Based on correlation analysis and logistic binary regression analysis,we analyze the influencing factors and actual dilemmas of social participation of rural elderly people,and explore a kind of supply network that aims to meet the social participation needs of rural elderly people and is constituted through the linkage and collaboration of multiple actors based on the findings of the empirical study.At present,the overall level of social participation of rural elderly is not low,but the level of participation needs is low.Significantly influenced by individual characteristics,family,social characteristics and other factors,the dilemma of social participation of rural elderly mainly stems from the limitations of the elderly’s own conceptual awareness and human capital,as well as various levels of ageism and poor participation channels in the external environment.To promote the social participation of the elderly in High-quality way,we need to rely on the supply of multiple welfare actors,i.e.,at the government level,to simplify and decentralize the government and establish a scientific awareness of aging;at the market level,to eliminate discrimination against the elderly,establish employment service platforms,and expand modern participation channels;at the civil society level,to recreate public cultural space in rural areas,promote the active involvement of rural community organizations,and advocate community norms of respect for the elderly;at the family level At the family level,we should recognize and respect the value of the family work of the elderly and share the excessive family work of the elderly with the society;at the individual level,the elderly should affirm their own value,enhance awareness of participation,and increase their recognition of social participation.
