| The report of the 20th Party Congress points out that the development of the digital economy should be accelerated and the deep integration of the digital economy and the real economy should be promoted. As a typical representative of flexible employment groups in the digital economy, online delivery workers have solved the problem of the "last mile" in the organic integration of online and offline, and were officially included in the National Occupational Classification Catalogue by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security in 2020.However,due to the initial stage of development, there is a relative lack of social attention and government support for the online delivery group, which makes them face the problems of high work pressure, low relief occupational risks and unreasonable algorithm control and other lack of protection of rights and interests.Job satisfaction is an important indicator of employment quality.Based on equity theory, social support theory and labour market segmentation theory, this paper explores the influencing factors and interrelationships of job satisfaction of online delivery workers by means of questionnaire surveys and field interviews.Firstly,a model of the influencing factors of job satisfaction was constructed on the basis of literature combing, and the influencing factors were categorised into two aspects: endogenous and exogenous factors, with exogenous factors consisting of four components: platform mechanism, government support, perceived protection and social relationship identity. Then,on the basis of the Job Description Scale and the Job Satisfaction Scale for Flexible Workers,a job satisfaction questionnaire for online delivery workers was designed with reference to the actual situation.Subsequently,a three-month field research was conducted, and the data collected were empirically analysed using SPSS statistical analysis software to verify the research hypotheses. The findings of the study are as follows: Firstly, the mean value of job satisfaction of online delivery workers is3.44,which is between "generally satisfied" and "basically satisfied" and is in the middle to upper level.Secondly, there are differences in job satisfaction among online delivery workers with different working years, education and employment contract signing status.Thirdly,on the scale of influencing factors, the government’s policy on protecting the rights and interests of flexibly employed workers scored the highest, while the platform’s welfare scored the lowest.Fourth, perceived protection has a fully mediating role between platform mechanism and job satisfaction, and a partially mediating role between social relationship identification and job satisfaction;government support has a negative moderating role between platform mechanism and perceived protection, and a positive moderating role between social relationship identification and perceived protection.Government support is a formal body in the social support system and plays an important role in improving job satisfaction of flexibly employed people. Therefore, this paper proposes to create a positive and healthy industry environment and improve the job satisfaction of online delivery workers from the perspective of government support in four aspects: optimising institutional construction, innovating organisational forms, implementing regulatory responsibilities and transforming service delivery methods. The study believes that, although there are still gaps and shortcomings in the online delivery industry in terms of institutions, regulations and labour protection, with the continuous development of the digital economy and the increasing service capacity of the Chinese government, online delivery workers will become a more fully protected, socially respected and self-confident profession in the near future. |
