| According to the Marxist view of history, people are the main force of history and the decisive factor of social change. In the social structure of Northeast China’s rural areas, women are one of the most active groups. With the rapid development of new media technology and the continuous promotion of rural revitalization, more and more rural women in northeastern China have started to record their lives through the camera and express themselves through short videos, while this "recording" is also a process to enhance their self-worth.Of course, unlike traditional media that focus on shaping the overall self-image,this kind of "recording" is also a process of constructing self-image.The low threshold, personalization and social attributes of short videos not only provide them with a new stage for self-image construction and presentation, but also pay more attention to expressing individual characteristics and constructing a more diversified and three-dimensional image. This dissertation adopts a content analysis method, based on media construction theory and self-presentation theory, and takes two short video platforms,Tik Tok and Kuaishou,as the carriers, and selects a total of 60 Northeastern rural female users and the 1944 short video samples they posted. The study found that rural women in northeast China posted a lot of short videos. The study found that the short video works released by rural women in Northeast China contain rich themes, mainly documenting daily life, and constructing a multi-dimensional personal media image through the selection and presentation of basic elements such as nicknames, avatars, role identities, video forms, video themes and texts, and video content presentation. In the short videos, rural women in northeast China mainly construct their media images through discourse construction, narrative construction of short videos, and symbolic use of rural northeast China, etc. The diversified presentation of their images mainly includes family labor, talent display, agricultural product promotion,e-commerce,dating and spouse selection, excessive "performance",and The diverse images include family labor, talent show, agricultural promotion,e-commerce,dating and spouse selection, plot interpretation type and acquiring sympathy. Each of these constructs is the result of the operation of rights and meanings. The significance of short videos in shaping the image of rural women in Northeast China is undeniable,as they have greatly enhanced the media discourse of rural women in Northeast China, freeing them from the single narrative of the other in the traditional media environment and giving them the opportunity to create a multi-dimensional image of rural women in Northeast China through short videos. Therefore, rural women in Northeast China can further actively express themselves and construct their images through the short video platform. However,it should be noted that,in addition to being a stage for performance, the e-commerce function and traffic recommendation mechanism of the short video platform are always commercialized, and there are still various problems in the process of image construction and presentation of rural women in Northeast China, including homogeneous creation that drowns out individual images,self-alienation under the regulation of consumerism,self-objectification in the blind pursuit of traffic, and deliberate performance that obscures the real image. In this regard, this thesis also looks at the problems of the rural areas of Northeast China. In this regard, this thesis also proposes suggestions for improvement from three perspectives: rural women in Northeast China, the government, and short video platforms. |
