With the continuous advancement of technology,new media has had a great impact on politics,economy,culture,and other areas.It has created new opportunities and challenges for shaping the image of the government.Especially now,everyone uses smartphones and tablets,making it easier to access information,and people pay more attention to the timeliness of information.New media communication methods are becoming more diverse,and government new media has become a new way for the public and the government to communicate.The public can participate in political life and supervise government actions through this platform,and the government will also use this space to showcase its image.The government should make good use of new media to present a positive image.Government new media has played an important role in shaping the image of the government,but at the same time,there are also some prominent problems,such as the lack of rigor in information dissemination,unclear functional positioning,inadequate supervision and management,and irregular construction and maintenance.If these issues are not resolved,they will have a negative impact on government image and may also weaken public trust and support for the government.Therefore,it is necessary to actively seek measures to solve these problems,so that the government can better use new media platforms to shape a good image.This requires the government to reflect on the problems that exist in shaping its own image from the perspective of government new media,analyze the reasons,and change strategies,in order to effectively use government new media to shape government image.This article first expounds on the concepts of New Media,Government New Media and Government Image.With the theoretical support of Intelligent Government Theory,Third-person Effect Theory and Gatekeeper Theory,get to know the general situation of development of government new media in Changzhou,summarize the measures of government new media shaping government’s image in Changzhou,and conduct in-depth research through interview investigation.Find out the problems existing in the process of building the government image by the new media of government affairs in Changzhou City,including the unbalanced development of government new media,the lack of two-way interaction between the government and the public,the improper crisis response which reduces the credibility of the government,and the lack of brand characteristics affecting the recognition of government’s image.The main reasons are that the overall planning level of new government affairs media is not high,the awareness of government service and public participation is not strong,the government crisis information management mechanism is not enough and the content form of new government affairs media is not innovative enough.In addition,by drawing lessons from domestic experience,four countermeasures are finally explored to adhere to the system concept,enhance the thinking cognition,optimize the mechanism strategy and establish the characteristic brand.To shape the image of service-oriented,friendly,sunny and innovative smart government.
