Colleges and universities are the fields where non-Party intellectuals are most concentrated.The united front work in colleges and universities(hereinafter referred to as "united front work")is an epitome of the united front work carried out by the Party and an important part of the Party’s united front work at the grassroots level.Guided by the Party’s United front theory,standing on the height of realizing the dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the new era,accurately grasp the current new situation of the development of colleges and universities and the new changes of the objects of the united front,do the united front work of colleges and universities in the new era well,give full play to the advantages of the concentration of talents,intensive intelligence and extensive contacts in colleges and universities,strengthen the ideological and political guidance of the objects of the united front.It is of great significance to promote the development of colleges and universities,train high-quality talents and realize the Chinese dream of the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.As an important front of the Party’s united front work,colleges and universities have gathered all aspects of the united front work objects.The scope of united front work and the object of united front work listed in the Regulations of the Communist Party of China on United Front Work are mostly closely related to colleges and universities.At present,the United front work in colleges and universities is facing a new situation of large number of objects,increasingly diversified ideas,and increasingly complex work.There are some practical problems,such as weak consciousness of united front work,insufficient ideological education,and imperfect system and mechanism of United front work.The main reason for these problems is that many universities do not pay enough attention to United front work and the pattern of great United front work has not really formed.We should combine the characteristics and key points of united front in colleges and universities,pay attention to classified policies,strengthen the work of non-Party intellectuals,and strengthen ideological and political guidance;Strengthen ethnic work and build a strong sense of community among the Chinese nation;Strengthening religious work to resist and guard against the infiltration of religion into colleges and universities;We will strengthen the work of teachers who have returned from studying abroad and carry forward the tradition of studying abroad to serve their country.The United front work system and mechanism should be perfected,the United front work force should be fully equipped and strengthened,the university Party committee should be under the unified leadership,the United Front Work Department should take the lead and coordination,the security department,the students’ work department,the teachers’ work department,the Foreign affairs Department and other functional departments and the party organizations of the secondary colleges(departments)should take their respective responsibilities,and the United front work of colleges and universities in the new era should be done well together.
