The Discourse Power Of Chinese Sport Association In International Sport Federation

In the context of globalization,the importance of discourse power is self-evident.Foucault believes that "discourse is power",it is the power to speak and the power to control public opinion.Whether it is hard power such as economic and military,or soft power such as cultural media,countries that have discourse power are often in a dominant position in the process of interacting with other countries,and even have more influence on social development.Therefore,this research selects the international sports discourse power as the topic,and takes the Chinese Basketball Association as an example to study the Chinese individual sports association’s discourse power in international individual sports organizations.In recent years,the Chinese Individual Sports Association’s voice in international sports organizations has gradually increased,but it is still inconsistent with China’s overall national strength and the status of a sports power.Among many associations,the Chinese Basketball Association has a higher voice and influence than other Chinese individual sports associations.This research is based on Foucault’s right to speak theory and the theory of sports community,through combing the development history of the Chinese Basketball Association,using documentary data,expert interviews and questionnaires to analyze the current status of the Chinese Basketball Association’s right to speak in the FIBA.The opportunities and challenges it faces in enhancing discourse power are further extended to the way that Chinese individual sports organizations have improved their right to speak in international individual sports organizations,hoping to use this to provide ideas for the Chinese individual sports associations to improve their international right to speak.1 China’s sports development path originated from a special historical background and actual national conditions.It is deeply influenced by China’s political,economic,social,historical and cultural factors,forming its own characteristics and advantages.The formation and gradual maturity and finalization of China’s sports road and its institutional system are sufficient to prove its rationality and applicability of the times.With the national single sports association as the leader,with the goal of enhancing international discourse power as the goal,it actively participates in international international sports governance.2 While strengthening their own capabilities,national individual sports associations also attach importance to the promotion of international discourse power,and gradually improve their participation,judgment,and decision-making powers.3 Compared with other Chinese individual sports associations,the Chinese Basketball Association has stronger international discourse power and influence.It gradually participates in the affairs of the International Basketball League.It has specific rights in terms of participation,information,regulation,judgment,and decision-making.reflect.4 Competitive sports are mostly originated from Europe and the United States.Under the influence of Western-centric ideology,international sports organizations(including the International Basketball Federation)have formed a relatively strong voice inertia,which has created a stronger voice for the Chinese national individual sports associations.Certain barriers.5 The Chinese government attaches great importance to the development of basketball,actively promotes the decoupling reform and development of the Chinese Basketball Association,and gives the professional basketball celebrity Yao Ming the opportunity to serve as the chairman of the association,which accelerates his integration into the development of international basketball and strengthens his international voice.6 Improving the overall strength of Chinese sports and telling the story of China’s sports development will help national individual sports associations to be recognized by the international community,and it can more subtly enhance the right to speak in Chinese sports and the right to participate in international sports governance.7 To enhance the discourse power of Chinese sports,it is necessary to take risk prevention into consideration,explore a sports governance approach that not only reflects Chinese characteristics,but also highlights the global value consensus,and realizes the two-way embedding of Chinese sports governance and global sports governance.
