With the rapid expansion of urbanization,a large number of farmers lost their land, resulting in a group of land-losing farmers. However, due to problems such as low education and employment difficulties, the new life of land-lost farmers is faced with various challenges.Their adaptation to the new role affects their quality of life. Therefore,it is necessary to carry out research on land-lost farmers.Based on the Chinese background, this research focuses on the land-lost farmers group in the suburbs, studies the subjective well-being of land-lost farmers from the perspective of psychology, and explores the influence mechanism of role identification and social support on subjective well-being.On the basis of subjective well-being,role identification and social support related concepts and literature combing, this paper uses a combination of quantitative research and qualitative research to carry out research on farmers who lost land in the suburbs. The quantitative study used the Land-lost Farmers’ Role Recognition Scale,Social Support Rating Scale, and Subjective Well-being Questionnaire to survey 327land-lost farmers, and used SPSS22.0 for data analysis and processing. On the basis of quantitative research,in order to further explore the impact mechanism of subjective well-being,semi-structured interviews with 10 land-lost farmers were conducted through qualitative research, and grounded theory was used to code and analyze interview data.Quantitative research found that:(1)Land-lost farmers’ subjective well-being(M=78.95,SD=11.10)is good, role identification(M=117.19,SD=13.33)is average, and social support(M=39.41,SD=8.43)is good better.(2)There is no significant difference in the subjective well-being of land-lost farmers in terms of gender, age, educational background, income change, and marital status, and significant differences in the time of land acquisition.(3)Subjective well-being is significantly positively correlated with role identification(r=0.45,p<0.01),but not significantly correlated with social support.(4)Hierarchical regression found that social support plays a negative role in role identification and subjective well-being(β=-0.14,p<0.01).Qualitative research found that:(1)Work is an important factor affecting subjective well-being.The subjective well-being of land-lost farmers is divided into three dimensions: work, policy and life satisfaction.(2)Recognition of citizen’s role improves subjective well-being.(3)Social support is high, subjective well-being is also high, and land-lost farmers have poor utilization of support. Therefore, this article concludes that the subjective well-being of land-lost farmers is good, and demographic factors other than work have a weaker effect on subjective well-being.The land-lost farmers’ role identification with the citizens is at a moderate level, the degree of social support is relatively good, and the utilization of support is poor.Citizen role recognition and good social support can improve subjective well-being.This study proposes to improve the working environment and policies at the national, social and individual levels, increase citizen role recognition and social support, and enhance the subjective well-being of land-lost farmers.
