| As the root and soul of the Chinese nation, the Yellow River culture is a part of Chinese civilisation and its inheritance is an inevitable requirement for the construction of a strong socialist cultural nation. The curriculum is the most important tool in school education.Integrating the Yellow River culture into the curriculum not only enhances students’ knowledge of the Yellow River culture, but also cultivates students’ emotions and identification with the excellent traditional culture, and enhances students’ sense of responsibility and mission for the inheritance and promotion of the Yellow River culture in their senses. However,in the current compulsory education stage, the construction of Yellow River culture education is weak, and it is difficult to meet the interest and willingness of the majority of students to learn, and the contradiction between the problem of integrating Yellow River culture into the curriculum and the needs of students begins to gradually appear. This study uses an empirical survey of Zhengzhou Z Middle School, combining questionnaires and interviews to understand the current situation of the integration of Yellow River culture into the middle school curriculum in terms of emotional attitude, goal setting, content system, implementation, and evaluation methods respectively. The problems in the integration of Yellow River culture into the junior high school curriculum are mainly reflected in the following:the poor hierarchy of curriculum objectives;the lack of depth of curriculum content resources;the problems in the implementation process;and the need to strengthen the curriculum evaluation system. The main reasons for these problems are:schools do not attach enough importance to the integration of Yellow River culture into the curriculum;teachers lack a deep understanding of the integration of Yellow River culture into the curriculum;students have a biased perception of the integration of Yellow River culture into the curriculum;and external education forces do not play a role in the integration of Yellow River culture into the curriculum. The following strategies are proposed to solve the problems of integrating Yellow River culture into the junior high school curriculum:schools should strengthen the construction of educational venues for Yellow River culture;teachers should enhance their awareness and ability to use Yellow River culture;students should carry out self-education on Yellow River culture;and extra-curricular education forces should actively participate. |
