A Research On Social Reintegration Of The Elderly Who Lost Their Only Child From The Perspective Of Social Work

In the 1980 s,China’s population showed the characteristics of large base and rapid growth.To effectively relieve the influence of rapid population growth on population welfare,all localities took strictly steps to carry out the policy for family planning,and a large number of one-child families emerged.It has greatly reduced the negative impact of China’s large population.However,the single family structure such as the one-child family also increased the risk of families in their future life,children’s diseases and accidental casualties will bring a heavy blow to the whole family.At present,the first batch of parents who have lost their only child have entered the old age stage.Not only did they need to face practical problems such as unattended and economic tension,but also were troubled by psychological obstacles all the time,the failure of normal social communication and difficult social reintegration.Therefore,they urgently need to receive care and support from society,government and social organizations.As a professional discipline of helping people to help themselves,social work can give spiritual support to the elderly who have lost their only child,and help them overcome psychological obstacles,so as to successfully realize social reintegration.Taking the “warm heart workshop” project of Nanchang D Association as an example and using many investigative methods,this author visited 50 elderly aged 60-75 who have lost their only child from Nanchang B Street and analyzed the basic situation of the elderly from the age,marital status,economic source and family structure.The author found that this group of elderly people who have lost their only child had needs for economic support,psychological support,social support and pension support in the process of social reintegration.Afterwords,the author designd corresponding group activities according to the above requirements.In this paper,the interest group of “warm company,help yourself and others”,the financial knowledge lecture of “Digital Express,happy life” and the cooking exhibition activity of “having teachers,having taste and sharing delicious food” carried out in the project were selected to elaborate in detail.On the basis of comprehensive evaluation results through the service objects after the project,the series of activities carried out this time help the elderly who have lost their only child to change their negative ideas,establish correct self-values,actively establish a social support network,and improve the level of social reintegration,so as to meet their social reintegration needs and spend their old age life smoothly and safely.The author extracted the service experience of D Association in the project of “warm heart workshop”,including de labeling service,the construction of collective atmosphere and the structure of social relations,so as to form a replicable text sample.It is expected to provide reference basis for the same type of social organizations in serving the elderly who have lost their only child.
