Xinjiang Uygur College Students’ National Identity

National identity is the recognition of an individual’s sovereignty,political opinion,political path,moral concept,cultural tradition and so on over his country.It is the attachment of belongingness and emotion of an individual over his country,and it is a tie of a country’s long-term establishment and development.National identity is an important national consciousness and an important political resource of the state.It is the foundation of social existence and the key to promote patriotism.This paper focuses on the study of the national identity of Xinjiang uygur university students,mainly explains and demonstrates from the four dimensions of identity such as motherland,the road,the theory and the system.Xinjiang is located in the western border of the motherland,and it has characteristics such as multi-ethnic settlements,multi religious and cultural integration,a variety of social problems,and borderline with a number of capitalist countries and so on.Xinjiang is also the "three forces" and other internal and external hostile forces infiltration positions.These diverse social trends of thought and social situation have a great impact on the national identity of uygur college students.Xinjiang uygur college students’ national identity is not only the performance of their political quality,but also related to the stability and development of Xinjiang,and even affect the country’s long-term peace and stability.This study wants to investigate the status quo of Xinjiang uygur college students’ national identity and explore the reasons for its impact.The results of the study have important practical significance for the patriotic cultivation of uygur college students and promote the harmonious and stable development of Xinjiang society.At the same time,it can also provide reference for improving the way of cultivating national identity.Under the guidance of the socialist core value system and the theory of socialization,this study starts from four dimensions: national identity,road identity,theoretical identity and institutional identification.On the basis of combing the relevant literature,with the help of interviews and questionnaires,this paper makes an empirical study on the uygur college students in Tarim University.The results show that the national identity of uygur college students is generally good.Uygur college students’ gender,religious belief,the standard of living in the family,the family residence,the population environment of the family residence,the enthusiasm of participating in community activities,learning situation,the number of Han friends and the number of patriotic education have a significant impact on the national identity of uygur college students.On the basis of studying the factors that affect the national identity of uygur college students,this paper puts forward the path of cultivating the national identity of uygur college students.We can enhance the level of national identity of uygur college students from the school education,family environment,social environment and personal aspects.First,the school should carry out patriotism education with the core of national unity education,further establish and improve the curriculum system of national unity education,and solidly improve the timeliness of national unity education of uygur college students.The education of national unity should be put into the whole process of national education,and should be penetrated the full stage of growth of uygur college students.The combination of College students’ national unity education should be combined with campus culture construction and solving the practical difficulties of college students.We should provide guidance during education and help their daily life.Secondly,colleges and universities should be guided by Marx’s religious view,and scientifically and rationally conduct propaganda of the religious views of Marx and the religious policy of the state.We should help and guide college students to establish a scientific and healthy concept of religion and strengthen the management of religious affairs in colleges and universities.We should prevent and resist the infiltration of illegal religion into the campus,guide the students with religious beliefs,and combine the ideological and political education with psychological health education.Thus,we can not only solve the ideological problems but also solve psychological problems.Third,from the community environment,we should strive to enhance the uygur people’s standard of living,and with precise poverty help as the goal,promote the urbanization construction of minority areas.We should aide Xinjiang in greater strength,help the poor get rid of poverty and become rich,so that the uygur families in poverty have the emotional attachment to the country and we can lay a good emotional foundation for national identity.
