| The century-old plan is education-oriented,and the new era has higher requirements for chemistry education.STSE(Science,Technology,Society,Environment)education emphasizes the interconnectedness of science,technology,society and the environment.The direction of our country’s chemistry curriculum reform points out that chemistry textbooks should be close to students’ real life and social environment,strengthen the connection between science and technology and life practice,and guide students to understand that scientific knowledge is closely related to society,environment and technology.STSE education concept can be described as an important concept in middle school chemistry teaching in our country.First of all,this paper sorts out the research status of STSE education at home and abroad by means of literature analysis.Afterwards,we conducted a questionnaire survey on teachers and selected several teachers for interviews.We learned that the current situation of STSE teaching is that most teachers often connect teaching content with technology,society,science,and the environment,but a small number of teachers do not know enough about the STSE education concept.There are still some deficiencies in the application of STSE education concept in junior high school chemistry teaching.Through the questionnaire survey,we also learned that the students’ interests are characterized by a strong interest in chemistry related to life and the environment,and they like scientific inquiry,group cooperation and other learning methods.Then,through the analysis of the Beijing version of the ninth grade chemistry textbook and the STSE related content in the Beijing mid-term exam papers in the past seven years,the situational teaching strategies,heuristic teaching strategies,experimental exploration teaching strategies and chemistry history teaching methods were determined to carry out teaching design and teaching practice.The following conclusions are drawn by analyzing the differences in students’ performance before and after the experiment and the results of the interviews: 1.There are few STSE materials in junior high school chemistry textbooks.Through teacher interviews and analysis of the Beijing version of the ninth grade chemistry textbooks,it is known that the current compulsory education chemistry textbooks are related to STSE education concepts.There are few relevant materials.Chemistry textbooks need to add STSErelated content to meet the curriculum reform and the country’s requirements for talents,and reflect the scientific value,technical value,social value and environmental value of chemistry teaching.2.The STSE value-oriented teaching can cultivate students’ scientific literacy and improve their chemistry scores.Choosing appropriate teaching methods according to the teaching content and students’ interests can improve the quality of teaching.Comparing the changes in the scores of the experimental class and the control class before and after teaching practice,it can be seen that the students’ chemistry scores have improved significantly under the STSE education concept.After the practice,some students were interviewed,and it was found that the students’ interest in scientific inquiry and scientific ability have improved.For example,when designing the experimental plan,the students will consider whether the experimental device is suitable and whether the experimental medicine is easy to obtain and environmentally friendly.3.The teaching process of STSE value orientation needs to be designed according to the actual situation.Affected by actual conditions,STSE materials,the use of teaching strategies,and the choice of teaching methods are greatly affected.When designing the teaching process,the novelty of STSE materials,the characteristics of students’ interests,the actual teaching conditions and the fit of the teaching materials should be considered.And it is necessary to adjust the existing teaching process according to the development of science and technology,changes in social life and recent environmental problems.In this way,the students trained by the STSE education concept can adapt to the high requirements of the society in the future,become talents with all-round development,and make significant contributions to the scientific progress and environmental improvement of our country. |
