Research On The Dilemmas And Countermeasures Of MSW Medical Social Work Internship In The Context Of Levin’s Field Theory

While the traditional biomedical model considers hospitals to be all about treating patients and saving lives,the new psychosocial biomedical model requires hospitals to be humane and humanistic,no longer simply focusing on the patient’s physical illness,but also on the patient’s psychology,family and links to relevant social resources.In recent years,in order to provide comprehensive and holistic health care services to the nation and promote the construction of a healthy China,the national government is vigorously promoting the construction of a medical social work workforce,and medical social work internships are a key path to training professional medical social workers and an important step on the road to medical social work professionalism.Therefore,early identification of the problems of social work trainees in the field of medical social work,so as to analyze the causes of the problems and find countermeasures and suggestions to solve them,is an important way to improve the effectiveness of social work trainees’ internship,promote the training of medical social work talents and ensure the quality of future medical social workers.Accordingly,the author relies on the medical social work internship base of Jinan Hospital S.Through a one-year internship at Jinan Hospital S,the author explored the difficulties of MSW medical social work internships by interviewing the head of the social work department of Hospital S,medical and nursing staff,MSW medical social work interns and full-time medical social workers from public welfare organizations.The interviews revealed that the MSW medical social work internship dilemma existed both before the internship began and during the internship,and also after the internship ended.After analyzing the problems in the MSW medical social work internship,the author uses Levin’s field theory as a perspective and finds that the internship dilemma is related to subjective factors such as the intern’s cognitive,motivational,emotional and volitional subsystems,as well as the influence of objective factors such as the environmental field in which the intern is placed.Based on this,the author proposes measures to alleviate the MSW medical social work internship dilemma from two dimensions:the individual field and the environmental field.In terms of the individual field,by clarifying the goals of the internship,improving the interns’ own quality and professional ability,and carefully summarizing and reflecting on the internship process,the interns can improve th eir motivation and initiative,so that they can put themselves into the medical social work internship process with better quality and status.In terms of the environmental field,the difficulties of MSW medical social work internships can be alleviated in four ways:increasing mutual encouragement among interns’peer groups,strengthening the educational supervision of universities,increasing the importance and publicity of medical social work internships in hospitals,and raising the recognition and attention of society.The above findings show that the MSW medical social work internship dilemma is closely related to the subjective factors of individual interns and the objective factors of the environment in which they live.To alleviate their internship dilemma,it is not only necessary to promote the MSW interns’ own professional ability,but also to create a good environment for them in order to promote the medical social work internship in a better direction.
