In recent years, the overall physical health level of middle school students in China has been showing a downward trend, which has attracted the great attention of the national government. As one of the important physical qualities of human body, coordination ability represents the ability of different parts of human body to complete actions together. The enhancement of coordination ability can help students learn relatively difficult movement skills more easily than others in future social life, and can also develop students’ quality in other aspects. Therefore,it is necessary to strengthen students’ coordination ability.Sports dance is a new sport. It can not only delight the mood, but also has the function of fitness and shaping. Moreover,it is favored by the public because of its bold, enthusiastic, solemn, enchanting and other different style characteristics. In addition, learning sports dance can improve students’ understanding and perception of beauty, and enhance students’ aesthetic feeling.By exploring the influence of sports dance teaching on middle school students’ coordination ability, this study aims to provide theoretical reference for improving middle school students’ coordination ability. This study uses the literature method to have a deeper understanding of sports dance and coordination ability, and uses the experimental method to take 40 students from the high school of Linxian senior middle school in Luliang City,Shanxi Province as the experimental objects of this experiment. Before the experiment, the data of various indicators in coordination ability are measured. After 16 weeks of sports dance teaching, the data of students are measured again,Use mathematical statistics to make statistical analysis. The conclusion is that the 16 week sports dance teaching can improve the balance ability, reaction ability, sense of rhythm and spatial orientation ability of middle school students, that is,the 16 week sports dance teaching can improve the coordination ability of middle school students. The comparison of data between men and women shows that boys’ t-word movement and 30 m rhythm running are better than girls, and girls’ straight-line walking and cross turn are better than boys;16weeks of sports dance teaching can improve boys’ balance ability, sense of rhythm and spatial orientation ability, and girls’ balance ability, reaction ability, sense of rhythm and spatial orientation ability. The reason is that it is difficult to improve reaction ability, and boys spend more time exercising every day than girls.According to the research of this paper, the following suggestions are drawn:(1)in the teaching of sports dance,we should focus on cultivating students’ balance ability, reaction ability, sense of rhythm and spatial orientation ability,so as to comprehensively develop students’ physical coordination ability.(2)In teaching,we should pay attention to the differences between men and women and carry out intensive exercises of different genders.Boys pay attention to cultivating masculinity and girls need to pay attention to the beauty of softness.(3)In the process of sports dance teaching, teachers should teach students relevant professional knowledge to make students have a general understanding of sports dance, and pay attention to step-by-step teaching of students’ skills from easy to difficult, and pay attention to the control of students’ dance movement details.(4)In domestic schools, there are few schools that include sports dance in sports interest elective courses. It is suggested that relevant education departments should pay attention to the interest elective course mode of middle school students’ sports and health courses, make it more perfect, make more sports enter middle schools, and then make the sports interest elective course mode better popularized in high schools all over the country.
