Background:Fundamental motor skills serve as the foundation for developing specialized motor skills, affecting students’ future physical activity participation. The Curriculum Standards(2022 Edition)emphasize the emphasis on fundamental motor skills as a key development focus for level 1 students.Taking the cultivation of sports skills as the guide and achieving the improvement of fundamental motor skills for level 1 students through scientific and effective sports activities is a basic requirement of the country for student training and an important goal of school physical education work.Attention,as one of the cognitive functions,is the foundation and prerequisite for all psychological processes and behavioral activities. It plays a leading role in cognitive activities and is an important factor affecting the development of students’ fundamental motor skills.Although there are currently a large number of policies that impose strict requirements on the provision of full physical education classes, the development of fundamental motor skills for school-age children in China is still slow. The promulgation of the "double reduction" policy provides an opportunity for the in-depth development of school sports activities, but the high-quality development of after-school extended service still needs to be practiced.Based on this, further exploration is needed to explore the development path of the impact of exercise intervention on the attention and fundamental motor skills of level 1 students during the extended after-school service period.Research purpose:Based on the background of the "double reduction" policy, during the extended service period after class, based on the characteristics of students’ physical and mental development, and using fun in athletics as the exercise intervention method, this study explores the impact of 12 weeks of high-intensity exercise intervention on the attention and fundamental motor skills of level 1 students,as well as the mediating effect of attention between exercise intervention and fundamental motor skills,in order to provide empirical support for promoting the development of fundamental motor skills of level 1 students,Furthermore,it provides practical reference for the exercise intervention method of afterschool delay service. Methods:A convenient sampling method was adopted to select students from Grade 2 in a primary school in Jiangsu Province, all aged between 7 and 8 years old, healthy and free from movement disorders, genetic history, cardiovascular diseases and congenital diseases. After consulting the written intention of the students themselves and their guardians,84 students were finally included in the study. There were 42 students(21 boys and 21 girls)in the fun in athletics group, with an average age of 7.33±0.48 years old. There were 42 subjects in the control group(21 males and 21 females),with an average age of 7.31±0.47 years. The experimental intervention lasted for 12 weeks, three times a week, and the intervention time was accumulated for 30 minutes in each 60-minute extended after-school service period. The intervention intensity was medium to high intensity(heart rate was 140~160 times/minute).The Children’s Leisure Activities Study Survey-Chinese Edition, the Test of Gross Motor Development-3 and the Attention Test were used for the centralized measurement before and after the experiment.Results:(1)Through the 12 week high-intensity exercise intervention, the attention distribution, attention span, attention diversion, attention stability and the total dimension of attention of level 1 students were significantly affected by the time Main effect(P<0.001),the group Main effect(P<0.05)and the interaction effect of time and group(P<0.01),respectively.(2)Through 12 weeks of high-intensity exercise intervention, the displacement skill dimensions of level 1 students, such as running and jumping, one foot jumping, standing long jump, and the manipulation skill dimensions of low hand throwing, two hand receiving, forehand hitting and throwing,as well as the general dimensions of fundamental motor skills were significantly different in time Main effect(P<0.001),group Main effect(P<0.05),and time and group interaction effect(P<0.001).(3)Attention played a partial mediating role between motor intervention and fundamental motor skill, and the mediating effect was 22.5%.Conclusions:(1)After-school extended service can have a positive impact on the attention and basic motor skill development of Level 1 students through a scientific and reasonable exercise intervention plan, using fun in athletics as the exercise intervention method, and through 12 weeks of high-intensity exercise intervention.(2)After-school extended service, using fun in athletics as a sports intervention method, can indirectly improve students’ basic motor skills by improving their attention level.
