| General education has long been one of the largest educational programs in the United States.It aims to prepare all students for life,work,and study by expanding their knowledge of history,science,culture,and values;developing their ability to think critically and apply knowledge;and developing their understanding of and participation in democratic ideals as American citizens.The United States has formed a relatively complete and mature general education system in the long-term exploration.Among them,the general education in American state universities aims at the popularization of education,relies on the government’s financial budget and the commitment to undergraduate education and teaching tasks.Since the 21 st century,through a series of reform policies,including constantly optimizing the governance mechanism,improving the general education curriculum,and paying attention to the quality evaluation of general education,the general education has developed healthily.Then for the local training of comprehensive,comprehensive qualified modern citizens.This paper uses literature research method,comparative research method and case study method to make a detailed and systematic discussion on the general education of American state university.First of all,it combs the motivation and development course of the development of general education in American state universities,and understands its historical origin.Secondly,it summarizes the idea and purpose of developing general education,which lays a theoretical foundation for further understanding of general education in state universities.Finally,this article analyzes the implementation results and the characteristics of development,and on the basis of combining with the actual development situation of general education in local colleges in our country,summarizes effective experiences and gives enlightenments. |
