According to Curriculum Standards of Mathematics for Senior High School(2017 Edition),mathematical modeling literacy is one of the six core literacy of mathematics discipline,which establishes the important position of mathematical modeling in mathematics education in China.Probability and statistics as an important subject of high school mathematics curriculum,the examination of students’ mathematical modeling is more and more,the situation is more and more diversified.Therefore,based on the topic of probability and statistics,the investigation and research on the current level of mathematical modeling literacy of senior high school students and the suggestions on teaching based on the current situation are not only conducive to the implementation of the requirements of mathematical modeling literacy in the curriculum standards,but also conducive to the further development of students’ mathematical modeling literacy.Based on the SOLO classification theory,a four-level evaluation framework for high school students’ mathematical modeling literacy level was constructed according to the solving steps of the modeling questions in the probability and statistics section,and a test paper for modeling literacy level was compiled to objectively understand students’ mathematical modeling literacy level.In order to further understand the students’ mathematical modeling literacy level subjectively,a questionnaire was compiled from four dimensions of modeling cognition,emotion,application and willpower,and six classes of students in grade two of a middle school in Qingdao were tested.SPSS and Excel software were used to process and analyze the data collected from the questionnaire and test volume.Finally,three mathematics teachers with different teaching ages were interviewed face-to-face.The results show that:(1)High school students have poor performance in the four dimensions of mathematical modeling literacy;(2)The overall level of mathematical modeling literacy of senior high school students is low;(3)The four dimensions of mathematical modeling literacy have significant positive correlation with the level of modeling literacy;(4)There are significant differences in the level of mathematical modeling literacy between male and female students and students in different classes.Based on the research conclusion,the factors that affect students’ mathematical modeling literacy are further analyzed:(1)schools ignore the cultivation of students’mathematical modeling literacy;(2)It is difficult for teachers to carry out mathematical modeling teaching and they fail to reflect intelligent computational thinking;(3)Students do not pay attention to the development of their own mathematical modeling literacy.Based on the analysis of the current situation and causes of high school students’mathematical modeling literacy,teaching suggestions are given from four aspects:school,teachers,students and college entrance examination questions.(1)Schools,teachers and students should work together to create favorable conditions for the cultivation of students’mathematical modeling literacy,teachers should do a good job in modeling teaching,and students should pay more attention to mathematical modeling.(2)Follow the changing rules of the examination questions,take the college entrance examination as the baton,and promote the development of students’ mathematical modeling literacy. |
