| A coordinate curve image is a visual representation of the scientific representation of the process of change of the independent and dependent variables in a chemical reaction.Curve representations are becoming increasingly important in teaching and high-stakes testing, but the novelty and comprehensiveness of the test contexts make such questions a difficult challenge for students to overcome. How to effectively utilize the teaching value of curve representation in the classroom and improve the efficiency of solving coordinate curve representation image test questions is a topic worth exploring. In this study, the specific analysis of coordinate curve images is conducted, and the relevant educational theories are combined with the study of high school chemistry test questions as well as textbooks. Then, the current situation of teaching curve representations is investigated and analyzed, focusing on the teaching of curve representations, and then the teaching strategies of curve representations in high school chemistry classrooms are explored based on the analysis results. The thesis consists of five sections in total,as follows:In the first part,we focus on the current teaching background of curve representation, the status of curve representation in Advanced Placement Chemistry and the development and teaching status of curve representation at home and abroad.Based on the literature, the theory is elaborated and the core concepts are defined, and the purpose of the study is presented. The second part specifically analyzes the coordinate curve image test questions in GCE chemistry. This part first analyzes the requirements of the syllabus for image skills, the organization and presentation of coordinate curves in the textbook, and then analyzes the types and expressions of coordinate curve images in the GCE chemistry test, the content of the test, and the key abilities and skills tested.Through the analysis of the test questions,I believe that the coordinate curve test questions have a wide range of content, mainly in the chemical reaction principles section, and require higher key skills and literacy of students. The third part is the analysis of the investigation and research on the current situation of teaching curve characterization. The results show that this type of test is a difficult category to overcome because of the teachers’ singular teaching methods and the students’ lack of ability in fourfold representation conversion, image recognition, and problem solving skills. In the fourth part, the teaching strategies, sample curve representation test questions analysis, and teaching practices of high school chemistry curve representation are specified. The author reads out the teaching strategies of curve representation in high school chemistry from the educational internship experience as well as the experience of doing questions, and then analyzes the teaching strategies based on the previous studies, and believes that the teaching of curve representation images should be adequately improved from reading, interpreting and making graphs. The next part is to propose the solution methods for different types of curves on the basis of the classification of curve representation images, and finally the preliminary exploration of teaching curve representation in the senior class according to the teaching strategies. The fifth part is the conclusions, reflections and perspectives of the study. The analysis of research and teaching practices led to the following conclusions: The complexity of curve representation questions is high and teachers’ and students’ awareness of the use of curve representations and how to solve them needs to be improved, but the integration of curve representation in chemistry teaching can promote the deep understanding of knowledge and the efficiency of problem solving. In future chemistry classroom teaching should focus on the systematization of knowledge of curve representation materials and the development of image skills by modern teaching techniques. |
